XYZ Racing Pro Rally Coilovers — BMW 1 SERIES F20 4/6 CYL (excl. M-Technik. xDrive & EDC) 2010-2026

Rear-wheel drive, four- and six-cylinder power, and a short wheelbase make the F20-generation 1 Series one of the last affordable RWD platforms worth building into a stage car – and one of the quickest to bite back the moment a gravel crest or icy hairpin takes the grip away. Without M-Technik’s stiffer factory settings, xDrive’s front-axle drive, or EDC’s electronic damper control to fall back on, this car’s stock suspension was never set up for anything rougher than a wet roundabout.

The XYZ Racing Pro Rally coilover is built for exactly that gap: top-flight rally competition, where ride height needs to clear ruts and compressions the road car never sees, and the rear axle needs to stay controlled when the throttle goes down mid-corner on loose surfaces. It replaces the F20’s factory strut and shock assembly with a unit designed around stage-car loads rather than road-car comfort.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2026 Bmw 1 Series F20 4/6 CYL (excl. M-Technik. Xdrive & EDC)

On a car that’s lost its EDC dampers, the biggest single gain is having damping control back at all – this kit puts adjustment back in the driver or co-driver’s hands rather than leaving the F20 on a single fixed factory rate. Ride height adjustment lets you set the car high enough to survive a rutted gravel special stage without grounding the sump guard, then drop it back down for a tarmac rally where ground clearance matters less than roll control. Because the F20 is RWD and lacks xDrive’s front-axle assistance, all the traction on corner exit has to come through the rear contact patches – firmer, better-controlled rear damping keeps that axle settled under power instead of stepping out unpredictably on loose surfaces. The stiffer overall spring and damper package also cuts down the body roll and dive that a standard 1 Series shows under the harder inputs of stage driving, so the chassis stays flatter and more predictable jump to jump.

About the Pro Rally coilover

XYZ Racing builds its rally-spec gravel and snow suspension in two distinct forms, and it’s worth knowing which one you’re speccing. The first is the amateur-level build, which bolts straight into the F20’s original chassis mounting points with no bodywork changes required – the more accessible route for a car that still needs to be practical outside of competition. The second is the professional-level build, intended for cars where the bodyshell itself has already been modified to suit; this version is fitted after that structural work is done, rather than around the stock mounting points, and is aimed at cars being built specifically for serious rally use rather than dual-purpose duty. Both share the same core intent – damping and spring rates sorted for repeated hard hits over broken surfaces rather than smooth-road comfort – but the professional build assumes a car that’s already been committed to full-time competition use. Knowing which category your F20 build falls into determines which spec is the right starting point.

Fitment for the Bmw 1 Series F20 4/6 CYL (excl. M-Technik. Xdrive & EDC) (2010-2026)

This kit is built for the F20-generation Bmw 1 Series, chassis code BM75-5, covering four- and six-cylinder cars from 2010 to 2026. It’s specified for the standard suspension layout only – cars fitted with M-Technik suspension, xDrive four-wheel drive, or EDC electronic damper control sit outside this application and need a different spec.

Speccing a BM75-5 1 Series for stage work starts with picking the right build type for how the car’s been prepared – configure yours below.

Rally gravel/snow suspensions are very professional suspensions and they are designed into two types:

1. Be installed directly with the original chassis. (Amateur type)
2. Be installed after modifying the car body. (Professional type)
