XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Audi TT 8S φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2015-2026

Sealed-stage tarmac rallying throws a different problem at a coilover than a smooth circuit does: crests, compressions and mid-corner surface changes arrive at speed with no warning lap to learn them on. The Audi TT 8S’s MQB-based structure is stiff and light for a road car, but its factory dampers are tuned for public-road compliance, not for absorbing a sequence of blind bumps taken flat in fourth.

The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover is built around that specific problem. It replaces the front strut and rear shock with a monotube damper set calibrated for rally-road inputs rather than track smoothness, so the TT 8S keeps its tyres in contact with the road surface through the kind of crests and compressions a closed stage throws up mid-corner.

What this coilover does for your 2015-2026 Audi TT 8S

Fitted to the 8S, the Tarmac Rally set-up controls body movement through the sequence of compressions a rally road throws at a car that a circuit never does – a crest taken at speed, a mid-corner dip, a camber change into a hairpin. The monotube construction resists the fade that catches out lesser dampers over a long stage, keeping the TT 8S’s tyres loaded evenly instead of skipping across the surface. Because the 8S carries its weight low and close-coupled for a road coupe, the extra body control also sharpens turn-in without turning the ride brittle over the broken tarmac typical of UK rally roads. Traction out of tighter junctions improves too, since the rear stays settled rather than unloading over the same bumps that unsettle a factory-damped TT.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Tarmac Rally line specifically for sealed-stage work on broken and uneven road surfaces, rather than the smooth, consistent tarmac of a circuit. The damper is tuned to soak up sharp hits from potholed sections and larger compressions without transmitting the full shock into the chassis, which keeps the car settled instead of deflected off-line. That control translates directly into contact patch: less vertical disturbance at the tyre means more of the available grip stays usable through a bump rather than being lost to the tyre skipping across the surface. The wider aim is stability under load – a car that holds its intended line through a rough section instead of needing constant correction mid-stage. The damping characteristics themselves are carried over from XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme, drawn from stage running rather than derived purely from a bench test.

Fitment for the Audi TT 8S (2015-2026)

This kit is built for the Audi TT 8S, chassis code AU46-1, covering the 2015 to 2026 model range and specified with the φ55 rear shock in its modified, integrated rear mounting configuration. Because the rear fitment is specific to that mounting arrangement, confirm your TT’s rear shock mount matches this configuration before ordering.
