XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Audi TT RS 8J 4WD φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2006-2014

The TT RS 8J’s quattro all-wheel-drive system was built to put a turbocharged five-cylinder’s power down on tarmac, but the same hardware that keeps it planted on a wet B-road also makes it a credible platform for loose-surface work, provided the dampers can survive what gravel actually does to a chassis. XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally coilover for this TT RS is built specifically for that brief – sustained high-frequency impacts, sudden compression over ruts, and G-loads that road-spec dampers were never asked to absorb.

This is the Rally spec, not the road-going Sport or Circuit variants in the range – long-travel, inverted-tube construction aimed at stages measured in miles of loose surface rather than laps of tarmac. On a 4WD 8J with the φ55 modified-rear-integrated rear end, that means a damper matched to the chassis’s actual rear mounting geometry rather than a generic bolt-on unit.

What this coilover does for your 2006-2014 Audi TT RS

On loose surfaces the TT RS’s quattro drivetrain sends power to all four corners, but traction only counts if the wheel stays in contact with the ground, and long-stroke travel keeps the tyre following the terrain instead of skipping across it. The inverted tube design keeps the larger tube uppermost, which helps the front end resist the aggressive lateral loading generated when a car this size turns in on loose stone at speed. Long spring travel absorbs vibration transmitted through the chassis on sandstone, snow-packed, or silt-covered stages rather than passing every impact straight into the tub. Because the φ55 rear geometry on this chassis is modified and integrated, the rear end handles G-force loading through transitions without the wallow or bottoming-out a road damper would suffer. The result on this 4WD five-cylinder platform is a car that can be pushed into a rutted approach without the chassis losing composure mid-corner.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally range is built around one job: surviving stage conditions that are, by design, the roughest a competition damper will see, with sandstone, snow, and silt each loading the suspension differently and each demanding a different response from the valving. The inverted tube layout puts the larger-diameter tube uppermost, a construction choice XYZ uses specifically to cope with the varying surface conditions a rally car crosses within a single stage. Stroke length and spring length are both extended well beyond road-spec coilovers, giving the damper the travel to absorb chassis vibration and to keep working when the car is bounced hard off-camber at speed. That extended travel is also what lets the unit bear the extreme G-forces generated mid-corner without topping or bottoming through the stroke. Spring rate selection across the range has been set and proven by XYZ’s own rally racing team rather than calculated on paper, so the rates reflect what holds up across a competitive stage rather than a theoretical ride-quality target.

Fitment for the Audi TT RS (2006-2014)

This kit is built for the 8J-generation Audi TT RS, chassis code AU41-3, covering the 2006 to 2014 production run in 4WD quattro form. It is specified for the φ55 modified rear-integrated rear suspension layout used on this chassis, so confirm your car matches that rear-end configuration before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
