XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Audi A3 8V Φ55 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated 2012-2020

The A3 8V’s optional multi-link rear axle – fitted here in the Modified Rr Integrated configuration rather than the torsion-beam layout most 8V hatches run – gives each rear wheel independent vertical travel, which is exactly the geometry a gravel stage rewards and a beam axle cannot replicate. On a surface that switches from hardpack to washboard ruts inside a single corner, that independence is what keeps the inside rear tyre loaded and the car pointing where you steered it.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Audi A3 8V (2012-2020) is built around that reality. It is set up for gravel-stage and rally-cross use rather than tarmac lapping, with damping and spring rates chosen to survive repeated high-speed compressions over broken ground instead of a tyre-scrubbing test day.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Audi A3 8V Φ55 (Rr Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rr Integrated

Fitted to the A3’s multi-link rear, this coilover keeps the axle tracking through the rapid direction changes a gravel stage throws up, where a stock rear damper would pump up and skate. The long-stroke build gives the wheel somewhere to go when a compression arrives faster than a standard suspension can react, rather than topping out and unloading the tyre mid-corner. That extra travel also lets the car run a taller ride height for rough sections without running out of stroke on the first big hit. Spring rates are pitched to control body movement under the G-forces a loose-surface car generates, so the A3 stays flat enough for the driver to read what the front axle is doing. The result on the 2012-2020 A3 8V is a rear end that stays planted when the surface underneath it is anything but.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Gravel Rally line specifically for rally and rally-cross competition, where the surfaces are more punishing than anything a circuit or fast road throws up – and where the damper, more than any other single component, decides whether the car survives the stage. The unit uses an inverted-tube layout, chosen so the assembly copes with the full range of loose-surface conditions a rally season covers, from sand and snow to fine silt, without the seals or shaft taking the abuse a conventional orientation would see. Stroke length and spring length are both extended beyond a road or track coilover’s spec, giving the damper the travel to soak up chassis vibration and absorb repeated hits from high-speed, bouncy terrain without bottoming out. That same travel lets the kit take extreme cornering loads without the spring coil-binding or the damper running out of shaft. XYZ Racing’s own rally team sets the spring rates on this range through its competition programme, so the rates supplied here are stage-proven rather than a bench estimate.

Fitment for the Audi A3 8V Φ55 (Rr Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rr Integrated (2012-2020)

This kit fits the Audi A3 8V built between 2012 and 2020 that carries the multi-link rear suspension (chassis reference AU12-6), supplied here in the Modified Rr Integrated rear configuration. Confirm your car runs the multi-link rear rather than the torsion-beam layout before ordering – the two axles are not interchangeable and take different rear dampers.

Spring rate and adjustment options for this Gravel Rally kit are set out below – configure yours to suit the stages you’re running.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
