XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Audi A3 SPORTBACK 8V Φ55 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for ElectronicDamping) 2012-2020

The multi-link rear axle is the reason this fitment exists separately from the torsion-beam A3s sharing the same shell – four locating links per corner instead of a beam, and genuine independent camber and toe control to work with rather than a fixed axle geometry. If your car left the factory with adaptive dampers, this is also the cancellation-kit spec: it replaces the electronic actuators the ECU expects to see with fixed-rate Top Sport dampers, so the car doesn’t throw a suspension fault every time you start it.

For an A3 Sportback doing school-run duty five days a week and an occasional track day the rest, that combination – proper multi-link geometry paired with a damper that isn’t fighting the factory’s electronics – is what the Top Sport range is built around. It sits between XYZ’s fast-road and full competition kits: stiffer than standard, adjustable enough to soften off for a motorway run, and firm enough on circuit that the difference shows up early in a session rather than only once tyres and everything else are fully up to temperature.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Audi A3 Sportback

Fitted to the Φ55 monotube body, the Top Sport kit runs 30-50% more damping force, or roughly 2kg/mm more spring rate, than the equivalent street-focused setting. On the multi-link rear that translates into real wheel control rather than just a firmer seat: bigger hits from broken tarmac get absorbed instead of thumping straight through the body shell, and the shock body itself moves less under load, which keeps the tyre’s contact patch working instead of skipping. That matters more on the A3’s independent rear than it would on a torsion-beam car, because each corner is free to respond on its own rather than being tied to its opposite number through a solid beam. The net result on a fast A-road or a track day is a car that settles quicker after a compression and holds its line through direction changes without the back axle stepping out of line first.

About the Top Sport coilover

XYZ’s Top Sport range is built around the damping and spring settings the brand uses in its own racing programme, scaled back to something you can still drive to the circuit rather than trailer there. Compared with a street-spec coilover, spring rates rise by around 2kg/mm and damping force by 30 to 50%, which lets the kit soak up a heavy compression – a pothole, a kerb, a big bump mid-corner – without the shock body kicking back through the chassis. That control is what keeps the tyre loaded and gripping rather than skittering across the surface. It’s a set-up developed for track day and aggressive road driving rather than outright competition, which is why it still rides acceptably on a motorway commute between sessions.

Fitment for the Audi A3 Sportback (2012-2020)

This kit is specified for the A3 Sportback 8V built between 2012 and 2020, chassis code AU12-2-C, on cars fitted with the multi-link rear suspension and a 55mm shock body. It’s the cancellation-kit version, built for A3s that came from the factory with electronically controlled dampers, so the electronic damping actuators are replaced rather than retained.

By increasing 30~50% damping or 2kg/mm spring rate than street setting; it can absorb the impact of uneven pavement. It is able to absorb the jolt when across a big bumps, effectively suppress shock body and to increase tire’s traction. Vehicle stability makes you can experience perfect handling.
