XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Audi A3 SPORTBACK 8V φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated (CancellationKit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2020

Not every A3 Sportback 8V rides the same. The quattro-based cars in this range left the factory on a multi-link rear axle rather than the torsion beam fitted to the front-drive versions, and a chunk of them came with electronically controlled adaptive dampers as standard. Swapping in a passive coilover on one of these cars means dealing with that damper wiring, not just the springs – which is exactly what the cancellation kit built into this AU12-7-C application handles, so the ECU stops looking for a damper signal that no longer exists.

This is the Circuit Master coilover, XYZ Racing’s damper for sustained circuit lap-time work rather than a fast-road compromise. On the A3 Sportback’s multi-link rear, that means a kit built to hold a consistent setup through repeated heat cycles on track, not just look good on a driveway.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Audi A3 Sportback

The φ50 damper body gives the front strut more oil volume than a slimmer-bore unit, which matters on a car that’s already carrying EA888 four-pot weight over the nose – more fluid means the damping stays consistent as the oil heats up over a session rather than fading lap on lap. At the rear, the multi-link geometry responds well to the added adjustability: with 9720 combinations of damping available through the three external knobs, you can separate compression from rebound enough to control body roll through the axle without the rear end going nervous over kerbs. Ride height is fully adjustable independent of spring preload, so you can drop the Sportback’s stance for a lower centre of gravity while keeping correct suspension geometry – useful given how much this platform’s handling depends on getting camber and roll centre right rather than just going low.

About the Circuit Master coilover

Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s range and is built specifically for circuit use rather than road comfort, which shows in the construction choices. The damper uses a small-oil-hole design at each of the three adjustment knobs, giving 9720 total combinations of compression and rebound – enough range to tune the front-to-rear balance on the A3’s multi-link layout for a given track rather than settling for one compromise setting. XYZ’s own racing teams have run this damper internationally, and the small-passage valving that produces that adjustment range can also produce a faint noise over sharp bumps or kerbs; on a car set up for track work that’s a by-product of the oil routing, not a fault. It’s a kit built around repeat-use durability on circuit surfaces, where damping consistency matters more than outright plushness.

Fitment for the Audi A3 Sportback (2012-2020)

This application (chassis reference AU12-7-C) covers Audi A3 Sportback 8V models built between 2012 and 2020 fitted with the multi-link rear suspension – the quattro-based cars rather than the torsion-beam front-drive range. The kit includes the electronic damping cancellation module needed on cars that left the factory with adaptive dampers, so the OEM control unit isn’t left hunting for a signal from a damper that’s no longer connected.
