XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Alfa Romeo 155 4 CYL 1992-1997

The 155 4 CYL’s Twin Spark nose carries real weight over the front axle, and on a sealed tarmac stage that weight transfers hard under trail braking into every hairpin. Loose the front end mid-corner on a stage and there’s no run-off, just a bank or a wall. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built around that specific problem: keeping the front loaded and predictable when the surface changes from smooth asphalt to broken, cambered stage tarmac inside the same bend.

This is a sealed-stage tarmac rally spec, not a fast-road or track-day compromise. It’s tuned to absorb the sharp, repeated hits a stage throws at a car – crests, patched surfaces, mid-corner bumps – without the front axle skipping off its intended line.

What this coilover brings to your 1992-1997 Alfa Romeo 155 4 CYL

Fitted to your 1992-1997 155 4 CYL, the biggest change you’ll feel is over broken tarmac mid-corner: the damper controls the jolt from a pothole or ridge instead of letting it kick through the chassis and unsettle the nose. That matters on a FWD Twin Spark car, because any unsettling of the front end costs traction exactly where you need it to put power down out of a hairpin. The shock body is tuned to suppress excess body movement through direction changes, so the 155 stays flatter and more settled when a stage snakes through fast esses. The result is a front axle that stays loaded and a rear that follows it, rather than a car that’s constantly recovering from the last bump.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally coilover is XYZ Racing’s dedicated response to sealed-stage work, built from the settings their own tarmac rally programme has run and refined. Its core job is absorbing the impact of uneven, patched, or cambered pavement without transmitting that hit straight into the chassis – the kind of surface a closed stage delivers far more of than a public road ever does. Damping is calibrated to soak up big single hits (a pothole, a crest landing) as well as sustained rough sections, suppressing shock-body movement so the car doesn’t pitch and wallow lap after stage. That control is what feeds tyre traction back into the equation: a wheel that’s being kept in contact with the road grips, one that’s skipping doesn’t.

Fitment for the Alfa Romeo 155 4 CYL (1992-1997)

Built for chassis code AL06, covering 1992 to 1997 build years of the 4-cylinder Alfa Romeo 155 – the Twin Spark-engined, front-wheel-drive versions rather than the V6 TI or Q4 turbo cars. Confirm your build year falls in this window before ordering.
