XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Toyota MRS W30 1999-2007

Mid-engine roadsters have no business being driven fast on gravel, and yet the W30 MRS’s near-even weight distribution and compact wheelbase make it a genuinely competitive loose-surface platform for anyone prepared to build it properly. The standard suspension, designed for smooth tarmac use, doesn’t cope with the repeated high-amplitude impacts of gravel stages or the lateral load cycles of snow driving – and that’s before you factor in the time it takes for a stock shock to overheat and fade on a full-day event.

The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover was built specifically for rally racing and rally cross. It brings substantially longer travel at both the front and rear, increasing the buffer distance the W30 needs to stay settled over crests and compressions where a standard-travel unit would run out of stroke and leave the chassis bouncing unpredictably off its bumpstops.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2007 Toyota MRS W30

Greater suspension travel at both axles keeps tyres in contact across the kind of surface irregularities that gravel and snow stages produce continuously. The enlarged oil volume and increased nitrogen gas charge inside each damper directly address heat fade – a meaningful factor when the same shock absorbers are working hard through repeated flat-out sections without time to cool between stages. Three adjustment knobs allow independent tuning across different damper characteristics, so the setup that works on muddy gravel can be shifted toward packed snow without returning to the service park to change springs. The mid-engine layout of the W30 concentrates mass centrally, which rewards precise damper calibration on loose surfaces – too little rebound control and the rear loses its composure over crests, a correction that arrives faster in a short-wheelbase mid-engine car than drivers used to longer platforms expect.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ Racing designed this damper for the demands of competitive rally racing and rally cross, where long-travel suspension and thermal resilience take priority over outright stiffness. The kit features meaningfully longer stroke than XYZ Racing’s road and track lines at both front and rear, providing the additional buffer distance that loose-surface competition requires. Oil volume and nitrogen gas capacity are both increased relative to road-spec units, specifically to reduce the risk of shock oil overheating during extended competitive use. Adjustment is via three independent knobs working through a narrow oil-passage design: this architecture means that large impacts will produce a slight noise as damper fluid passes through the restricted gallery – this is inherent to the design and not a sign of fault. The Pro Racing Gravel/Snow is built for environments where surface smoothness cannot be assumed.

Fitment for the Toyota MRS W30 (1999-2007)

Built for the Toyota MRS on the W30 platform, covering the full production run from 1999 to 2007. The W30 carries independent suspension at both ends, and XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow kit is calibrated to that geometry. Confirm your chassis code is W30 before ordering – the MRS W30 spans the complete model run with no mid-cycle platform change to account for.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
