XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Toyota MRS W30 1999-2007

Mid-engined and rear-wheel drive, the W30 MR-S carries a weight distribution close to neutral – an unusual starting point for a drift car, and one that demands specific suspension thinking. Sustained angle on a mid-engined platform presents different challenges to a conventional FR layout: the engine mass behind the cockpit amplifies transition corrections, and the gap between controlled angle and snap oversteer is narrower than it looks on paper.

Adjusting ride height shifts the centre of gravity downward, reducing the rotational moment that makes the W30’s responses sharpest precisely at the point where a drift transitions from initiation to hold. With bump stroke set for sealed circuit surfaces, the chassis’ inherent liveliness starts working for the driver rather than against them.

What this coilover does for your 1999-2007 Toyota MRS W30

Three independent adjustment knobs allow damping character to be configured separately across compression, rebound, and ride height – critical on the W30, where front and rear damper settings need to account for the mid-mounted engine’s different effect on traction under lateral load. Reducing ride height via the threaded collar lowers the centre of gravity, which flattens body roll in high-speed direction changes and gives the driver a more consistent, controllable angle throughout the slide. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Drift Spec coilovers are calibrated to stabilise the car body during aggressive high-speed cornering, so steering and throttle inputs go into angle management rather than chassis recovery.

About the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover

Developed specifically for drift circuit use, the Pro Racing Drift Spec coilover kit centres on a three-knob adjustment system that separates compression, rebound, and ride height into independent controls – letting the driver configure the setup to a specific track surface without compromising across the range. The damper body uses a small oil hole construction that channels fluid through a narrow passage under large suspension inputs, producing a deliberate, measured response rather than a sudden one. That restricted passage is the mechanical intent: on smooth circuit asphalt, the controlled fluid movement is what allows the driver to sustain a consistent drift angle. Some audible feedback from the damper under big compression events is a known characteristic of this design – it reflects the oil moving through the narrow passage as intended, not a fault. The Pro Racing Drift Spec kit assumes circuit surfaces; spring rates and damper calibration are built around smooth asphalt, not variable road conditions.

Fitment for the Toyota MRS W30 (1999-2007)

This coilover kit is specified for the Toyota MR-S W30 platform across its full production run from 1999 to 2007, covering the complete third-generation MR2 in roadster form. Geometry and spring rates are calibrated for the W30 chassis specifically. Confirm your chassis code before ordering; this kit does not cover the SW20 Mk2 or AW11 Mk1 MR2 generations.

This suspension is especially designed for Drift racing purpose. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowering the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.
