XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Mitsubishi 3000 GT 1992-1996

For a heavy, twin-turbo all-wheel-drive coupe like the 3000 GT, the 0-400m fight isn’t about cornering grip – it’s about getting that mass off the line without the front axle lifting and spinning up the front pair before the rears bite. XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover is built specifically around that problem: launch-phase weight transfer, not lateral load.

Where a Top Sport or Super Sport kit is tuned to control body roll through a corner, this kit is tuned to move weight rearward the instant you release the clutch or brake-torque off the line. On a car this heavy, that difference is the whole ballgame between a clean 60-foot time and wheelspin.

What this coilover does for your 1992-1996 Mitsubishi 3000 GT

Installed on the GT, this kit lets you set front and rear ride height independently so more static and dynamic weight sits over the rear contact patches the moment you launch. That matters on a 4WD platform where front-end squat under acceleration can actually work against you if the geometry isn’t set up to load the drive wheels correctly. The damping and spring rate are calibrated for straight-line acceleration loads rather than mid-corner compression, so the chassis settles quickly after the initial hit instead of oscillating through the first gear change. For a 3000 GT running mid-13s or quicker, that settled rear end is what keeps the tyre compression consistent from launch through the first shift, rather than fighting wheel hop on a car already carrying more mass than most import rivals in this bracket.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover was developed for 0-400m runs across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms, which covers the 3000 GT’s factory all-wheel-drive layout without needing a separate variant. The core idea is height-adjustable weight transfer: independent front and rear ride height lets you shift static weight rearward before you even stage the car, then the spring and damper rates are set to let that weight land on the tyres instantly under power rather than progressively. The goal is greater tyre compression at the rear under load, which shortens the time the tyre spends unloaded or spinning and gets the car moving in a straighter, more repeatable line. Construction follows XYZ Racing’s usual coilover architecture – fully threaded body for the ride-height adjustment range this setup depends on – but the valving and spring specification are drag-specific rather than shared with the road or circuit ranges. It’s a narrower brief than a general-purpose coilover, and that focus is the point: everything in the tune serves the first 60 feet.

Fitment for the Mitsubishi 3000 GT (1992-1996)

This kit is built for the Mitsubishi 3000 GT, chassis code GT, across the 1992 to 1996 model years. Confirm your specific model year and drivetrain configuration against your registration document before ordering, as the 3000 GT ran both FWD-based and full-time 4WD variants across this generation.

Configure your ride height and spec for the 3000 GT below to get this drag-specific setup matched to your build.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

Front

  • Pillow ball + rubber top mountPillow ball + rubberP+Pillow-ball upper with a rubber insert — adds steering precision and camber adjustability while keeping some of the factory mount’s harshness damping.
  • Hardened rubber top mountHardened rubberRHardened rubber upper — firmer than the factory bush for tighter response while retaining road-friendly noise and vibration isolation.

Rear

  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
