XYZ Racing Pro Rally Coilovers — Honda PRELUDE BB5/6/7/8 1996-2001

Loose-surface competition asks very different questions of the fifth-generation Prelude than any circuit ever will. The BB5/6/7/8 was built around double-wishbone geometry at both ends and a nose-heavy front-drive layout, so on gravel or snow that front axle has to keep finding bite over a surface that shifts under the tyre. The XYZ Racing Pro Rally coilover for the Honda Prelude BB5/6/7/8 is built for that environment specifically: top-flight rally competition, where usable wheel travel and impact control matter far more than a slammed ride height.

This is a stage-rally suspension first and a road part a distant second. It is set up to keep the H22A’s mass settled through ruts, crests and mid-corner intrusions, giving the Prelude the long, controlled travel a loose surface demands rather than the tied-down stiffness you would run on tarmac.

What this coilover does for your 1996-2001 Honda Prelude

On gravel and snow the gain is traction you can actually use. Generous damped travel lets the front double-wishbones track a broken surface instead of skipping across it, so the driven wheels stay loaded when you get back on the throttle out of a corner. The valving is tuned to absorb sharp, repeated hits – the sort a 1996-2001 Honda Prelude takes over a rough stage – without packing down or going harsh. That keeps the nose-heavy front end composed under braking into loose hairpins, and gives the back axle enough movement to rotate the car predictably when you lift. The result is a Prelude that stays planted and readable when the surface is doing its best to unsettle it.

About the Pro Rally coilover

The Pro Rally is a dedicated gravel and snow rally suspension rather than a fast-road coilover pressed into service. It is offered in two distinct configurations to suit how serious the build is. The first is an amateur-level set-up that bolts straight to the original Prelude chassis with no structural changes, which keeps a club or privateer car competitive without major fabrication. The second is a professional-level set-up intended to be fitted after the bodyshell itself has been modified, freeing up the geometry and travel a top-flight stage car needs. Both are aimed squarely at competition use on loose surfaces, where wheel control over impacts is the whole point.

Fitment for the Honda PRELUDE BB5/6/7/8 (1996-2001)

This kit is specified for the fifth-generation Honda Prelude, chassis codes BB5, BB6, BB7 and BB8, across the 1996 to 2001 model years. It suits the front-wheel-drive coupe in standard or modified shell form depending on which of the two configurations you choose.
