Caliper render for this kit:

The R56’s nose-heavy front-drive layout means the factory loads almost all of the braking effort onto the front axle, leaving the rear discs undersized and quick to lose feel once you actually start working them. The XYZ Racing Hollow Rear Brake Kit for the Mini Cooper (R56) gives the back axle the thermal headroom and bite it never had as standard, restoring some of the balance a tuned R56 deserves.
This is a rear-specific upgrade for owners who already understand how a Mini behaves under braking, the lift-off agility on turn-in, the way the tail follows the nose through a quick change of direction. Run it to match an uprated front setup, or fit it on its own to sharpen brake balance and trail-braking response on a car that lives on B-roads and the odd track day.
What this big brake kit does for your 2007-2014 Mini Cooper (R56)
The first thing you feel is a firmer, more consistent rear pedal contribution when you stack up repeated heavy stops, instead of the early fade the standard rear discs are known for. Because the disc uses two-piece floating, hollow-vane construction, you shed rotating and unsprung mass at the back axle, which keeps the R56’s quick, darty rear end settled rather than overloaded. The three pad compound options let you set the bias to suit how you drive: Street for road, Sport for harder fast-road use with more bite and heat range, and Racing for sustained circuit work. More rear braking authority also gives you cleaner rotation when you trail the brakes into a tight corner, letting the Mini turn rather than push wide. Caliper finishes from no-cost Red, Yellow, Gold, Black and Anodized Black through premium polished-forged and candy options suit any build.
About the Hollow rear brake kit
The kit replaces the small factory rear discs and calipers with a larger, higher-capacity assembly built around a two-piece floating, hollow-vane rotor that cuts weight without giving up swept area. The hollow-vane design helps the discs run cooler and shed heat faster, which is the whole point on a front-biased hatch where the rears are usually an afterthought. The caliper body is hollow as standard, with an optional Hollow Racing upgrade for serious track use, rated to 1000C with no dust cover and a two-year warranty. Pad choice is covered by three compounds, Street, Sport and Racing, so the same hardware works for a daily R56 or a car booked in for track sessions. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, with two-tone anodized or titanium centre bells selectable, and caliper colour options run from no-cost Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black through premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold or Polished Silver, candy Teal, Blue, Red or Orange, or a Custom Pantone for 150 pounds, so the kit reads as deliberate rather than bolt-on. It is engineered specifically as a rear-axle upgrade, so it complements a front big brake kit and helps you set overall braking balance rather than just adding stopping power at one end.

This kit is built for the R56 generation Mini Cooper across the 2007 to 2014 model years and fits the rear axle. Confirm your exact chassis code and build year against your car before ordering, and select the pad compound and caliper colour to match your intended use.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 330–356mm (rear). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
