Caliper render for this kit:

The BS-generation Outback carries genuine mass: a kerb weight north of 1,600 kg, a boxer engine sitting ahead of the axle line, and a Lineartronic CVT that contributes almost nothing to overrun deceleration when you need to shed speed in a hurry. On a loaded Scottish Highland run or a Snowdonia descent with the camping gear stacked to the headliner, the stock brake hardware is being asked to do more than it was rated for at factory sign-off.
The XYZ Racing Front Big Brake Kit gives the 2014-2019 OUTBACK (BS) a front-axle upgrade calibrated to the car’s real operating weight rather than its unladen showroom spec. It fits as a pair of front calipers and a pair of two-piece front discs, and three pad compounds mean the same kit serves the owner covering 15,000 mixed motorway and B-road miles a year and the one who brings theirs to a timed event on a Sunday.
What this brake kit does for your 2014-2019 Subaru OUTBACK (BS)
Larger two-piece floating front discs dissipate heat more effectively than the OEM units, which matters on an AWD estate that regularly operates at maximum payload on sustained descents. The hollow-vane casting drives air through the disc face to pull temperatures down, and the two-piece construction sheds rotating and unsprung mass at the front axle without sacrificing disc rigidity. That is worth having on a strut-based platform already carrying a flat-opposed engine unit forward of the centreline. Under hard braking the BS Outback’s long wheelbase transfers weight heavily onto the front axle, and a stiffer, higher-capacity system turns that transfer into actual deceleration rather than disc temperature.
Three pad compounds set the brake character at the point of order. Street is the quiet, low-dust default for daily and touring miles; Sport adds bite and heat range for drivers carrying pace on fast B-roads; Racing is the track compound for repeat-performance conditions. Discs come drilled or slotted at the same price, and braided lines sharpen pedal feel. Calipers are painted before dispatch in Red, Yellow, Gold, Black or Anodized Black at no cost, with any Pantone available as a Custom Color for an added charge.
About the Front Big Brake Kit
The caliper is a hollow-body forged unit as standard, stiff for its weight, with a Hollow Racing upgrade for serious track use that removes the dust cover and adds a 1000C rating and a two-year warranty. On an adventure-oriented platform like the BS Outback, gravel approach roads, long loaded descents and occasional trailer work make sustained brake load routine rather than occasional, so the thermal headroom of two-piece floating discs earns its keep.
As a front-only kit the upgrade concentrates its effect where braking physics demand it most, on the axle doing the heaviest deceleration work under an emergency stop. Finish options extend past the included colours to premium polished-forged Titanium, Polished Gold and Polished Silver, plus a candy range of Candy Teal, Candy Blue, Candy Red and Candy Orange. Centre bells can be specified two-tone in five anodized colours or in titanium, all selected when you order.
Fitment for the Subaru OUTBACK (BS) (2014-2019)
This kit is confirmed for the Subaru OUTBACK in BS-generation specification, covering the fifth-generation model from 2014 to 2019. The BS designation spans both the 2.5i and 3.6R powertrain variants sold in this period. It fits the front axle as a left-and-right pair. Verify your vehicle’s model year and body code before specifying pad compound and caliper colour.

Choosing your spec
Every kit is built to order around the choices you make above. Here is what each option actually changes, so you can spec yours with confidence.
Brake pads — Street, Sport or Racing
Every kit ships with a full set of high-performance pads; the compound is your call.
Street is the right default for fast-road driving — a strong, progressive cold bite with low noise, low dust and long disc life. Sport raises the working temperature and adds bite and fade resistance for hard road use and the occasional track day, while still behaving on a cold morning. Racing is a track compound built for sustained abuse: huge fade resistance and bite once heat is in it, at the cost of more noise and dust when cold. Match the pad to how hard you actually use the brakes — there is no benefit to a race pad that never gets up to temperature.
Caliper grade — Hollow vs Hollow Racing
Hollow is the standard caliper on every kit: a hollow-body forged caliper, lighter than a solid one, fitted with a dust cover and backed by a 5-year oil-leak warranty. For most fast-road and spirited track use it is all the caliper you need.
Hollow Racing is the track-grade upgrade. It runs the same hollow body but without a dust cover (so there is nothing to melt at sustained high temperature), uses a twin-metal piston that isolates heat travelling from the disc to the oil seal, and is rated to 1000°C. Available 286–380mm (front). Warranty is 2 years on oil leaks and 10 years on appearance. Built for professional racing and repeated track days.

Caliper colour & finish
Painted colours (Red, Yellow, Gold, Black, Anodized Black) are included at no cost. Want an exact match to your car? Custom Color (+£150) paints the calipers to any Pantone code you supply (15–20 day lead time).
Polished Forged finishes are the flagship: a forged caliper given a mirror-polished surface treatment that shifts colour with the viewing angle. Beyond the looks, the polished surface dissipates heat better, resists rust and stands up to the weather. Choose Titanium (neochrome, +£350), Polished Gold (+£300) or Polished Silver (+£250). They look their best paired with a titanium centre bell. Care: clean only with a dilute neutral cleaner or water.
Candy colours (+£200) use a deep candy-paint and polishing process for a mirror-reflection, boutique finish — pick Teal, Blue, Red or Orange (shown below right).

Centre bells
The centre bell is the CNC-machined aluminium hat that joins the disc to the hub. The standard anodized centre bell is included. The Two-tone bell (+£200) adds an anodized accent ring — choose Red, Yellow, Orange, Purple or Silver right here at checkout. The Titanium centre bell (+£500) is a forged titanium bell (bolts not included) that finishes off the polished-forged look.
