XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota VIOS XP40 2002-2007

The XP40 VIOS is a featherweight front-driver, and on a loose gravel stage that low mass cuts both ways: there is little inertia to fight, but also little to settle the chassis when the surface turns to ruts, washboard and hidden rocks. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for exactly that environment – long travel and damping control that keeps a light Toyota saloon composed when the road stops being a road.

This is the rally specification, not a lowered fast-road kit pressed into service. It trades static stance for stroke, running long springs and an extended damper body so the wheels can keep reaching for the ground over sandstone, snow and silt without the chassis crashing through its travel.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2007 Toyota VIOS XP40

On a stage, the difference shows up as composure. The long-stroke damper lets each corner extend fully into dips and soak up the landing when the VIOS clears the far side, so the front tyres keep finding grip instead of skipping. The inverted tube construction stiffens the strut against the side loads a light FWD car generates mid-corner, sharpening turn-in on a surface that usually washes the nose wide. Because the spring rates were set by a rally team rather than guessed at, the rear axle stays settled under braking into a hairpin and the car holds a tidy, repeatable line. For a sub-1,100kg saloon, that pairing of travel and control is what turns a nervous economy sedan into something you can lean on.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally coilover specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the surface is the most punishing in motorsport and the damper carries more of the workload than any other component on the car. The defining feature is an inverted tube layout, locating the larger-diameter body at the top to add bending stiffness where the strut takes the most abuse – which matters when a gravel stage delivers sustained side and impact loads. Long stroke and long springs are central to the design: together they absorb the constant chassis vibration of a rough surface, let the car attack high-speed bumpy sections rather than bounce off them, and carry the extreme cornering loads of a hard direction change. The geometry is built to cope with varied conditions, from sandstone and silt through to snow. Every spring rate in the range was validated by a rally racing team rather than specified on paper, so the baseline settings reflect what actually works on a stage.

Fitment for the Toyota VIOS XP40 (2002-2007)

This kit is cut for the XP40-generation Toyota VIOS, covering the 2002 to 2007 model years. It mounts to the factory front strut and rear locations for that chassis. Confirm your car carries the XP40 chassis code before ordering, as later VIOS generations use different suspension hardware.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
