XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Toyota CORONA 1993-1997

The T190-generation Corona was built to waft, not to attack a sealed stage. Its comfort-biased struts and long suspension travel let the nose dive, the body roll and the front tyres wash wide the moment you load them mid-corner. These XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilovers for the Toyota Corona exist to fix exactly that, turning a soft front-wheel-drive saloon into something you can lean on through a tightening tarmac hairpin.

This is a rally damper first and a road part second. The valving comes straight from XYZ Racing’s own Tarmac Rally programme, tuned to keep a relatively narrow-tracked FWD car planted when the surface stops being smooth.

What this coilover does for your 1993-1997 Toyota Corona

The biggest change you feel is composure. Where the standard Corona struts run out of damping and start to float over mid-corner ridges, this kit absorbs the jolt of broken pavement and big intrusions so the body stops pitching and the contact patch stays loaded. That translates to more front-end traction on turn-in and far less of the lazy understeer the T190 carries from the factory. Ride height comes down to drop the centre of gravity and sharpen the way the car changes direction, and the firmer, better-controlled platform gives you the confidence to brake later into a stage corner without the nose collapsing. On a patched B-road or a sealed special, the car finally feels like it is working with you rather than settling a beat behind your inputs.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally series is engineered for one job: keeping a car stable and quick over the uneven, abrasive surfaces of a sealed stage. The damper is built to soak up the impact of rough pavement and the sudden shock of a big bump, suppressing the jolt fed into the body so the suspension keeps doing its job instead of skipping. By controlling that vertical movement, it works to increase the tyre’s traction and hold the vehicle steady, which is where the precise, predictable handling comes from. Every setting in the kit is drawn from XYZ Racing’s accumulated Tarmac Rally racing experience, so the spring and valving balance reflects what has actually worked on stage rather than a generic road compromise. It is a focused motorsport part for owners running a Corona in club rally, sprint or fast-road trim.
