XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota CORONA 1993-1997

The TO30 Corona left the factory as a soft, comfort-sprung front-wheel-drive saloon, with damping built for motorway miles and short suspension travel that runs out the moment a road turns rough. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Toyota Corona answers the opposite brief: a long-travel, inverted-tube damper built to keep a 1993-1997 Corona planted when the surface underneath is loose sandstone, snow or silt.

This is rally hardware, not a fast-road lowering kit. Spring rates are set for gravel-stage work and signed off by XYZ Racing’s rally team, so the priority is soaking up high-speed impacts and holding the car through corners under heavy lateral load, not slamming the ride height for looks.

What this coilover does for your 1993-1997 Toyota Corona

On a loose stage, the first thing you feel is composure. The long-stroke design gives the Corona’s suspension somewhere to go over crests, ruts and washboard, so the wheels stay in contact with the ground instead of skipping and washing wide. The inverted-tube layout puts the larger, stronger tube at the top, which resists the bending loads a front-drive nose generates as it loads up mid-corner on gravel. Longer springs absorb the chassis vibration that batters a standard Corona on a rough surface, and the damping stays consistent when you carry speed into a bumpy entry. Under hard cornering it is built to bear the extreme G-force that pitches weight onto the outside front, the corner that does most of the work on a front-drive rally car.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally coilover specifically for rally and rallycross, where the surface is the harshest in motorsport and the damper does more to shape the result than almost any other part of the car. The construction centres on an inverted-tube design chosen to cope with wildly different conditions inside a single stage, from packed sandstone to snow and silt. Long stroke and long springs are the defining features: they provide the travel needed to absorb chassis vibration, attack high-speed bouncy sections without unsettling the car, and withstand the lateral G-force that builds through fast gravel corners. Every spring rate in the range has been tested by XYZ Racing’s rally team rather than calculated on paper, so the settings reflect what holds up on a live stage. For the Corona, that means a damper engineered around competition demands rather than adapted from a road kit.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
