XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Porsche PANAMERA (970) RWD (NOT AIR STRUT) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2009-2016

Drifting a two-tonne GT car is not something Porsche ever had in mind for the 970 Panamera, but RWD, non-air-suspension examples of this chassis have become an odd favourite in the drift-build scene for exactly that reason – get the rear end loaded and rotating and the weight and wheelbase hold an angle with real inertia behind it rather than snapping. The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover kit is built for that job: full-length threaded bodies that drop the Panamera’s ride height and set a geometry aimed at sustained rotation, not just cornering grip.

Because this fitment is specific to the non-air-strut RWD 970, it ships with a cancellation kit for the factory PASM electronic damping system. The Panamera’s standard adaptive dampers expect a control signal this coilover doesn’t send, so the canceller keeps the dash clear and the car running clean once the electronic struts are out of the equation – the difference between fighting warning lights and just getting on with building the car.

What this coilover does for your 2009-2016 Porsche Panamera (970)

At close to two tonnes, the 970 generates serious weight transfer under throttle and lock, and the factory suspension – tuned for GT comfort, not sustained oversteer – lets that mass move around exactly when you need the rear to load predictably. Dropping the ride height on this kit pulls the centre of gravity down and tightens the body roll the chassis carries into a slide, so the transition from grip to rotation happens on your inputs rather than the car’s momentum. Full-length threaded bodies let you wind in enough front-end stiffness for quick initial rotation without giving up the rear traction needed to hold the angle once you’re sideways. Because the kit is built around the RWD, non-air-strut car specifically, there’s no compromise in the geometry for AWD hardware or air-strut mounting points.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drift Spec line around competition and practice drifting, where the priority is body control through a sustained slide rather than single-corner grip. The core of it is stability under load: the design keeps the car’s body settled while it’s turning hard at speed, so the driver holds a clean, consistent angle instead of correcting a chassis that’s still moving underneath them. Once the Panamera is lowered on this kit and the available bump stroke is set up correctly, that stability is meant to translate directly into sharper, more controllable drifting rather than just a lower stance. As a coilover kit, spring rate and damping adjust independently of ride height, so you can separate how hard the car turns in from how far down it sits – more useful on a heavy chassis like the 970 than on a lighter, purpose-built drift platform where those two things move together.

Fitment for the Porsche Panamera (970) (2009-2016)

This kit is built for the RWD Porsche Panamera (970), model years 2009 to 2016, fitted with steel front struts rather than the factory air suspension. It is not compatible with air-strut cars or AWD 4/4S variants, and includes the cancellation kit needed to run without the factory PASM electronic damping control signal.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
