XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Porsche PANAMERA (970) RWD (NOT AIR STRUT) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2009-2016

The Panamera 970 RWD is not a lightweight – north of 1,800kg before a driver even gets in – and all of that mass has to load onto two rear contact patches the instant the light goes green. XYZ Racing’s Drag Racing coilover kit is built around that specific problem: getting a heavy, long-wheelbase GT to plant its rear tyres hard enough, fast enough, to put the V8’s torque down without spinning up.

This is the fitment for RWD 970s running Porsche’s PASM adaptive damping on conventional steel springs, not the air-strut suspension option. Because PASM’s electronically controlled dampers are being replaced by fixed coilover units, the kit includes the cancellation hardware needed to disable the factory electronic damping control without leaving a suspension fault lit on the dash.

What this coilover does for your 2009-2016 Porsche Panamera

On a car this size, a launch setup has one job: transfer weight onto the rear axle instantly and keep it there through the first few car-lengths. The Drag Racing kit’s spring and damping rates let the nose rise and the rear squat under hard acceleration, loading the rear contact patch rather than fighting the transfer with springing that’s simply too stiff to move. XYZ Racing’s own description of the range explains the logic – the setup shifts front-to-rear weight bias as the drivetrain puts power down, forcing the driven tyre into greater compression and cutting the time a rear wheel spends unloaded off the line. For a 970 running 0-400m passes, that means less wheelspin at the hit, more of the engine’s torque converted straight into forward motion, and a car that tracks straighter as load comes off the front axle rather than squirming under it.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built the Drag Racing range specifically for 0~400m straight-line runs, and the same kit is offered across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms rather than being a re-tuned version of a circuit or road coilover. Where a track-focused kit resists weight transfer to keep a car flat through a corner, this one works with it: valving front and rear is set so load moves onto the driven axle as fast as the drivetrain calls for it, and stays there once it arrives. On the RWD Panamera that means the rear units do the work of getting torque to the road, while the front is free to rise slightly under launch instead of being held down by an overly firm spring. Per XYZ Racing, the result is a car that spends less time with an unloaded rear wheel and holds its line once the tyres bite, rather than one that has simply been stiffened up and pointed at the strip.

Fitment for the Porsche Panamera (970) (2009-2016)

This kit fits 970-generation Panamera models built 2009-2016 in rear-wheel-drive form, specifically those fitted with Porsche’s PASM adaptive damping on steel springs rather than the air-strut suspension option. Because the coilover replaces PASM’s electronic dampers outright, confirm your car is the non-air-strut RWD configuration before ordering; the cancellation hardware included with this kit is what stops the factory electronics flagging a fault once the dampers are swapped.

The cancellation hardware for this Panamera’s PASM system is built into the kit, so there’s nothing extra to track down before fitment – configure yours below.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
