XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Porsche 997 TURBO CARRERA-4 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2005-2011

Taking a rear-engined, all-wheel-drive 997 Turbo onto loose gravel stages demands a suspension setup that tarmac-oriented hardware simply cannot provide. The 997’s rearward weight bias – acute even on smooth asphalt, where the tail feels alive at the limit – becomes a genuine calibration challenge on gravel, where surface adhesion shifts moment to moment and load transfer through the AWD system cannot be predicted the way it can on circuit.

The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the Porsche 997 Turbo Carrera-4 (2005-2011) replaces the factory dampers entirely. The included cancellation kit disables the Porsche PASM electronic damping system cleanly, so you are not fighting fault codes between stages – just the road.

What this coilover does for your 2005-2011 Porsche 997 TURBO CARRERA-4 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping)

Long-stroke travel absorbs the violent compression that gravel, ruts, and rough-cut stage roads generate – loads that would exhaust the stroke of a standard 997 damper within a handful of kilometres. The rear-engine weight distribution means hard landings and fast crests put significant force through the rear dampers in particular; the long spring geometry here is calibrated to handle those peaks without losing composure mid-stage. Bypassing PASM means the mechanical tune of the damper is what the car actually feels, giving a direct read of what the 997’s chassis is doing beneath you rather than an electronically averaged interpretation of it.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Gravel Rally dampers are built around an inverted tube design, a configuration chosen to keep the sensitive internal components away from the debris and contamination that define loose-surface competition. Long-stroke, long-spring geometry is the defining characteristic of this type – built to absorb chassis vibration and the aggressive bouncing that comes from high-speed running over sandstone, snow, and silt. For a rear-engined chassis like the 997, the rear dampers bear an asymmetric share of hard landings and compression peaks; the spring rate settings have been developed with Rally Racing teams specifically to account for that loading profile, not derived from tarmac applications. These are not conditions a damper encounters once and recovers from – the Gravel Rally is designed to sustain extreme G-forces across a full event, in conditions where a lesser damper would fail mid-stage.

Fitment for the Porsche 997 TURBO CARRERA-4 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2005-2011)

This kit is built for the Porsche 997 Turbo Carrera-4 from 2005 through 2011, chassis code PO04-2-C. The Carrera-4 AWD layout requires different front suspension geometry compared to the rear-drive Carrera-2 variant, and this fitment is specified accordingly. The PASM cancellation hardware is integrated into the kit – do not fit the dampers without it on any 997 equipped with electronic damping from the factory.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • Pillow ball top mountPillow ballPSolid pillow-ball (spherical bearing) upper — chosen for rigidity and precise camber adjustment, the sharpest steering response of the options.
  • Aluminium top mountAluminiumAAluminium upper mount — a stiff, lightweight housing that locates the damper precisely and resists flex under load.
