XYZ Racing Street Advanced Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz S CLASS W222 4WD (NON MBC hydraulic) 2014-2020

The W222 S-Class was engineered around Airmatic and, on the higher trims, Magic Body Control – a chassis that reads the road ahead and adjusts in real time. Strip that hydraulic intelligence away and you are left with a 2,100kg luxury saloon riding on suspension geometry it was never designed to use with passive springs. The XYZ Racing Street Advanced coilover for the 4WD NON MBC W222 exists for owners who have already gone down that road, by choice or by failed air strut, and want a properly engineered passive setup rather than a budget bag of springs.

This is the fast-road specification in the XYZ Racing range – designed to give a heavy, long-wheelbase saloon predictable body control without turning the cabin into a Nürburgring development mule. It lowers the W222’s stance, calms the pitch and dive that passive conversions usually inflict on this chassis, and gives owners a coilover platform they can live with daily.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 Mercedes Benz S Class W222 4WD (NON MBC Hydraulic)

The Street Advanced kit replaces the failure-prone air struts and their associated compressor cycling with a fully threaded monotube setup that is height-adjustable at each corner. On a 4MATIC W222 that means you can finally corner-balance the car properly across all four wheels – something the original air system handled automatically and which most passive conversions ignore. Damping is adjustable across 30 clicks, so the same kit that settles at a hushed motorway gait can be firmed up for a B-road or a continental tour without swapping parts. Spring rates are tuned for the W222’s mass distribution – heavier at the nose to control the long bonnet, balanced at the rear to keep the boot from squatting under load. Ride height drop is in the 30-60mm range depending on how you spec it, enough to lose the 4×4 gap without scrubbing arches on speed bumps.

About the Street Advanced coilover

Street Advanced sits in the XYZ Racing catalogue as the comfort-biased, daily-driver specification. Construction is full monotube with a 44mm piston and high-grade seal package, sized for the loads a W222 actually generates rather than borrowed from a lighter chassis. The damper bodies are zinc-plated for UK winter survival and the spring perches run on a separate thread from the body, so you adjust height without disturbing preload. Adjustment is by a single 30-click knob at the top of each damper covering compression and rebound together, which is the right call for a road kit – owners get meaningful tuning range without disappearing into a four-way setup they will never touch. Camber plates are not part of this specification; the kit retains the factory top mount geometry, which is what you want on a luxury saloon where NVH matters.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz S CLASS W222 (2014-2020)

This kit is specific to the 4MATIC (4WD) W222 variants supplied WITHOUT the MBC hydraulic / Magic Body Control system – chassis code ME65, model years 2014 through 2020. It is not compatible with rear-wheel-drive W222s or with cars that left the factory with active body control. Check your build sheet or the EPC for confirmation before ordering.
