XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz S CLASS W222 4WD (NON MBC hydraulic) 2014-2020

The W222 S-Class was engineered around air suspension and, in higher trims, Magic Body Control’s predictive hydraulic system. Stripping that out in favour of a coil-over conversion is a deliberate decision – one owners make when the OE air struts have failed, when the cost of replacing them outright is uncomfortable, or when a 4WD W222 is being turned toward a lower, more planted stance that the factory ride-height software was never going to allow.

The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coil-over is the aggressive end of that conversion. On a two-tonne saloon with 4MATIC running gear, the appeal is body control: pinning the nose under braking, killing the float that a tired air system leaves behind, and giving the chassis a flatter attitude on turn-in than it has had since it left Sindelfingen.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 Mercedes Benz S Class W222 4WD (NON MBC Hydraulic)

A 4WD W222 carries serious mass over the front axle, and the Drift Spec’s stiffer spring rates and monotube damping are what bring that mass under control. Expect noticeably reduced dive under braking, less squat as the 4MATIC system puts power down, and a far flatter cornering attitude than the OE air setup ever delivered – especially once the struts have aged past 60-80k miles. The 30-way damping adjustment lets you bias the car toward composure on a motorway run, then wind in more rebound for B-road or circuit work without touching a tool to the spring perches. Ride height adjusts independently of damper travel via the lower mount, so you can drop the W222 hard without sacrificing usable stroke. Camber plates up front (where chassis geometry allows) open up alignment options that the standard top mounts never gave you.

About the Drift Spec coilover

Drift Spec sits at the firmer end of the XYZ Racing range and uses a monotube damper body with a separated lower bracket, so ride height and damper preload are decoupled. The 30 clicks of combined compression and rebound adjustment cover a wide enough window that the same kit handles a road-biased setup and an aggressive low-stance build without a re-valve. Spring rates are selected to suit the platform weight rather than dropped in from a smaller chassis, which matters on a long-wheelbase saloon where under-sprung corners pitch and yaw long after the input has stopped. Pillowball top mounts replace the rubber-isolated factory mounts to sharpen steering response and remove the deflection that softens initial turn-in. Construction is steel-bodied with hard-anodised threaded sleeves to resist seizing in UK winter conditions.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz S CLASS W222 4WD (NON MBC hydraulic) (2014-2020)

This kit is specified for the W222 generation S-Class in 4MATIC form, covering the 2014 to 2020 production window, and is the variant for cars NOT fitted with Magic Body Control’s hydraulic active suspension. Confirm your car’s original suspension specification before ordering – W222s left the factory in three distinct suspension flavours and the conversion kit differs for each.

What buyers also search for

  • Mercedes S Class W222 air suspension conversion to coil-overs for owners replacing failed factory struts
  • W222 4MATIC handling upgrade that controls body roll on a two-tonne saloon
  • 2014-2020 S-Class adjustable coil-over kit with independent ride-height and damping adjustment
  • Mercedes Benz W222 stance and ride-height drop without losing damper travel

Pick your spring rate and damping spec below, and configure the kit to suit how your W222 actually gets used.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
