XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz S CLASS W222 (NON MBC hydraulic or 4WD) 2014-2020

The W222 S-Class was engineered around Airmatic and Magic Body Control – a chassis that reads the road ahead and pre-loads the dampers before the tyre ever sees the bump. Stripping that air system out in favour of a coilover is a deliberate choice, and the XYZ Racing Drift Spec for the non-MBC, non-4WD W222 (2014-2020) is built for owners who want the car to sit lower, turn sharper, and behave predictably when the rear is being asked to step out on demand.

Drift Spec is the clue in the name. This isn’t a fast-road damper compromised toward comfort – it’s a coilover tuned for deliberate weight transfer, repeatable angle, and the kind of rear-axle authority a 2.1-tonne saloon needs when its driver is asking it to behave like something half its weight.

What this coilover does for your 2014-2020 Mercedes Benz S CLASS W222 (NON MBC hydraulic or 4WD)

Drop the W222 onto the Drift Spec and the first thing that goes is the float. The standard non-MBC W222 already runs steel springs rather than air, but the OEM damping is calibrated for boardroom isolation, not transitional response. The XYZ damper carries the car flat through fast direction changes, kills the secondary body motion that makes long-wheelbase saloons feel vague, and gives the front axle a far cleaner sense of where the contact patch is sitting. Independent height adjustment lets you set the rake the W222’s silhouette has always cried out for, and the spring rates are chosen so the rear can be provoked with throttle without the front losing its line. Pillowball top mounts on the front feed steering information back to the wheel that the rubber OEM bushings deliberately filter out.

About the Drift Spec coilover

Drift Spec sits at the more aggressive end of the XYZ Racing range, built for cars whose owners are using them sideways with intent. The damper bodies are monotube with separate compression and rebound circuits, allowing damping to be tuned for the sudden load reversals a drift discipline puts through the chassis. Spring rates are stiffer than the road-biased Super Sport or Racing Spec, picked to keep the chassis composed under abrupt steering input and to support the weight transfer needed to initiate and hold angle. Adjustable lower mounts let you drop the W222 hard without sacrificing damper stroke – critical on a long, heavy saloon where running out of travel feels far worse than it does on a hot hatch. Construction is full steel body with anti-corrosion treatment, designed to survive UK weather and the brake-dust environment around the inside of a 19 or 20-inch wheel.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz S CLASS W222 (NON MBC hydraulic or 4WD) (2014-2020)

This kit is for the W222 S-Class chassis built between 2014 and 2020 on conventional steel springs – explicitly NOT the cars fitted with Magic Body Control, Airmatic hydraulic suspension, or 4MATIC all-wheel drive. If your W222 has any of those three systems from the factory, this is the wrong part number. Chassis code ME63 in the XYZ catalogue covers the rear-wheel-drive, non-MBC variant only.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
