XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Lexus SC 300/400 1991-2000

The Lexus SC 300/400 was never built to be thrown down a gravel stage. It is a long-wheelbase, rear-drive grand tourer on the UZZ30/JZZ30 Soarer platform, carrying real mass over the nose – the 2JZ-GE straight-six in the SC 300, the 1UZ-FE V8 in the SC 400. That weight and that wheelbase are exactly what the XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is set up to control once the tarmac runs out.

This is a long-travel, long-spring damper built for loose surfaces rather than a lowered fast-road kit pressed into service. It keeps a heavy coupe planted over crests, ruts and washboard while still letting the chassis breathe instead of skipping across the surface.

What this coilover does for your 1991-2000 Lexus SC 300/400

On gravel, grip comes from keeping the tyre loaded through a moving surface, and that is where the long stroke earns its place under a car as heavy as the SC. The extended travel soaks up high-speed impacts that would pitch a short-spring road setup straight into the bump stops, so the rear axle stays settled when you load the 2JZ or 1UZ out of a corner. The inverted-strut layout puts the stiffer, larger-diameter tube up top to resist the side loads a long-nosed coupe generates mid-corner, which steadies turn-in and stops the front washing wide. The result is a Lexus SC 300/400 that tracks predictably over surfaces it was never engineered for, with the suspension – not the bodyshell – taking the hits.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally line specifically for rally and rallycross, where the surface is the harshest in motorsport and the damper is the component doing the hardest work. The inverted tube design is chosen to cope with varied loose conditions – sandstone, snow, silt – rather than one fixed surface. Long stroke and long springs are the defining features: they absorb the constant chassis vibration of a rough stage, let the car attack high-speed bouncy roads without unsettling the platform, and carry the cornering G-force that gravel pace generates. The spring rates are not theoretical – each setting has been tested and signed off by XYZ Racing’s rally team, so the package arrives matched to real stage use rather than a catalogue number.

Fitment for the Lexus SC 300/400 (1991-2000)

This kit is built for the LE12-chassis Lexus SC 300/400 across the full 1991-2000 production run, covering both the 2JZ-GE SC 300 and the 1UZ-FE V8 SC 400. Confirm your chassis code and model year against the listing before ordering, as the gravel specification differs from XYZ Racing’s tarmac coilover ranges.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
