XYZ Racing Drift Spec Coilovers — Lexus GS 300/400 (S160) 1998-2005

The S160 GS is an unusual drift platform by competition standards – a 1,700 kg luxury saloon with a long wheelbase that resists the fast transitions demanded by tandem work. What makes it viable is what sits beneath: rear-wheel drive, the tuneable 2JZ-GE inline-six in the GS 300 or the torque-rich 1UZ-FE V8 in the GS 400, and a chassis that responds well once the factory suspension’s compliance is replaced with something built for sustained sideways use.

The XYZ Racing Drift Spec coilover for the Lexus GS 300/400 S160 addresses the core problem directly. Lowering the ride height compresses the centre of gravity and reduces the body roll that a long-wheelbase luxury saloon naturally generates; managing bump stroke correctly keeps the car composed when weight shifts sharply mid-angle, rather than hunting for the bump stop and snapping straight at the worst possible moment.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2005 Lexus GS 300/400 (S160)

Reduced ride height cuts the GS’s characteristic body roll, giving a more stable platform from which to hold angle through long, sweeping competition entries. Proper bump stroke calibration – shortened but preserved – means the rear suspension continues working on uneven surfaces without bottoming out. The geometry shift that accompanies correct lowering also improves rear camber behaviour under sustained load, helping the tyre maintain its contact patch when the car is running extended sideslip. The result is a car the driver can steer on the throttle with confidence rather than managing a rolling, unpredictable body around the corner.

About the Drift Spec coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Drift Spec coilover for competitive drifting rather than adapting a road-biased kit. The design concentrates on body stabilisation during high-speed cornering: spring and damper specification is chosen to keep the car composed and predictable when the front wheels point away from the direction of travel and the driver is simultaneously managing throttle, angle, and transition timing. Ride height adjustment is calibrated so that dropping the car produces the correct bump stroke for drift use – not simply a lower spring perch with travel ground away to nothing. Where a fast-road coilover serves multiple uses, the Drift Spec does one thing: stabilise the body at speed, preserve the angle, and let the driver work the inputs without fighting the chassis beneath them.

Fitment for the Lexus GS 300/400 (S160) (1998-2005)

This kit covers the Lexus GS S160 platform in both the GS 300 (2JZ-GE) and GS 400 (1UZ-FE) configurations across the full production run from 1998 to 2005. The S160 chassis designation covers the second-generation GS saloon in standard body form; confirm your variant before ordering if the car has been modified from factory specification.

This suspension is designed for Drift race especially. With its special design, it helps the racers stabilize the vehicle body while in high speed turning in order to make a perfect angle. It can also enhance drifting performance. After lowing the ride height with proper bump stroke, you will realize how we made the drift controlling to the excellent condition.
