XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — Hyundai ELANTRA 1996-2000

The J2-generation Elantra is a featherweight by modern standards, and that low kerb weight is exactly what makes the chassis worth attacking with a serious coilover. With factory MacPherson struts long past their useful life and bushings that have been compounding for nearly three decades, the J2 wants a complete suspension reset before it can show what the platform is actually capable of on a circuit. Circuit Master is that reset.

This is the XYZ Racing Circuit Master coilover built for the 1996-2000 Hyundai Elantra (HY05) chassis – a kit aimed squarely at sustained lap-time work rather than fast-road compromise. It is the most aggressive damper in the XYZ Racing range, sharing its bones with the Racing Spec, Drift Spec and Tarmac Rally builds the company uses for its own competition programmes.

What this coilover does for your 1996-2000 Hyundai Elantra

On a lightweight front-driver like the J2, the gains land immediately. Higher spring rates and a properly valved damper kill the front-end roll that sends the inside rear wheel into the air mid-corner, and turn-in sharpens from "soft hatchback" to something you can actually trail-brake into. With 9720 individual adjustment combinations on tap from three separate knobs, you have the resolution to set the front end up for steady-state grip on a tight technical circuit, then re-balance the rear for a quicker, looser car at a faster, flowing venue. Ride height is dropped without losing usable suspension travel, which is the failure mode of every cheap lowering setup the J2 has ever worn. Heat fade across a 20-minute session is no longer the limiting factor on the front axle.

About the Circuit Master coilover

Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s circuit-focused range and shares its design philosophy with the Racing Spec, Drift Spec and Tarmac Rally programmes. The damper has been validated by XYZ Racing teams across international circuits, with extended development testing rather than catalogue-spec extrapolation. The headline figure is 9720 ways of adjustment, delivered through three separate knobs that split compression and rebound across high and low piston speeds – resolution you only really need when you are chasing tenths over consecutive sessions. The small-oil-passage construction is a deliberate choice for circuit use: it gives precise control over fluid movement at the damper rates a track car actually sees. As a side effect of that design, hard hits over kerbs or large bumps can produce a small mechanical noise as oil passes through the restricted port. This is normal and is documented by XYZ Racing as part of the circuit-spec character of the damper – not a fault.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
