XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FL5 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2023-2026

The FL5 Civic Type R left the factory with adaptive dampers wired into the chassis ECU, and that’s the problem this kit solves. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FL5 (chassis HN64-C) ships with the cancellation harness needed to retire that electronic damping module cleanly, so the car stops throwing dashboard faults the moment you swap to a passive setup built for sealed-stage work.

This is a rally damper, not a circuit damper, and the distinction matters on an FL5. Honda’s torque-rich K20C1 and the dual-axis front strut geometry are already track-tuned from the factory; what they were never tuned for is mid-corner kerb strikes at 100mph on a closed road. The Tarmac Rally spec exists for exactly that brief.

What this coilover does for your 2023-2026 Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FL5

The Tarmac Rally damper is built to absorb the worst of a broken road surface without unsettling the chassis. On the FL5 that translates to keeping the front tyres planted through compressions where the OE adaptive setup would either go stiff and skip, or go soft and bottom. The cancellation kit kills the OE damper-control loop, so you get a consistent damper response on every corner instead of one the ECU is constantly second-guessing.

Heavy-bump compliance is the headline benefit, and on a 1,430kg front-driver that lives or dies on front-end grip, that compliance shows up as traction you can actually use on throttle. Stability under braking on uneven tarmac improves for the same reason – the wheel stays in contact with the road instead of skipping over the texture. The result is a car you can lean on through stage sections that would have the standard FL5 either understeering wide or running out of damper travel.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally damper is designed specifically for sealed-stage rally work on broken or undulating tarmac. Its construction is tuned to absorb large single-hit impacts – kerbs, joins, compressions – while still controlling body movement at speed. The settings come directly from XYZ Racing’s tarmac rally programme, not adapted from a circuit damper or a fast-road kit.

Where a circuit coilover would prioritise platform stability and minimal pitch, this one prioritises wheel-to-road contact across surfaces that move underneath the car. The valving is configured to suppress shock at the body while letting the wheel travel deal with the hit, which is what generates tyre traction on a stage. For the FL5 specifically, that pairing keeps the front axle loaded through the corner exit phase where torque steer and understeer would otherwise compromise the line.

The kit includes the electronic damping cancellation harness for the FL5’s adaptive system – a critical part for this chassis. Without it, swapping the OE struts triggers fault codes; with it, the car runs cleanly on the passive setup.

Fitment for the Honda CIVIC TYPE-R FL5 (2023-2026)

This kit fits the FL5 Civic Type R, chassis code HN64-C, model years 2023 to 2026. The cancellation harness for the OE electronic damping system is included in this part number – it is not a separate purchase. Confirm your model year matches before configuring.
