XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Honda ACCORD CL7/8/9 2002-2008

The seventh-generation Accord saloon and Tourer was never built with a circuit in mind, and that is exactly why the CL7/8/9 platform rewards a properly sorted damper. The K20/K24-engined CL9 in particular carries its weight high and forward, and the factory MacPherson front end runs out of body control long before the chassis runs out of grip. The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the Honda Accord CL7/8/9 is the rung above their road-and-track range – a circuit-first damper built around feedback from live race programmes, not adapted from a fast-road kit.

This is the spec to pick when track sessions are the point of the car, not a once-a-year indulgence. Expect a flatter, more honest CL-platform Accord: less front-end dive into a long brake zone, less mid-corner roll loading the outside front, and a rear axle that you can actually steer the car on.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2008 Honda Accord ACCORD CL7/8/9

The CL chassis responds dramatically to controlling front-end pitch. Tie the nose down through trail-braking and the K-series suddenly has somewhere to send its torque on corner exit, instead of scrubbing the outside front. The Racing Spec damping range is set up for circuit pace specifically – high-speed bump control to soak the kerbs at places like Cadwell and Donington, low-speed compression stiff enough to keep ride height honest under aero load and full braking. Spring rates pitched at race use cut the squat that the CL9 in particular suffers under power. The ride-height adjustment lets you set static rake to balance the chassis between corner phases rather than chase grip with tyre pressures alone. Brake feel improves as a knock-on effect – a stable platform under the pedal is worth more than a bigger master cylinder.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s circuit-dedicated damper, developed directly from their participation in series including WTCC. The settings are not theoretical: they have been arrived at through race weekends, not just dyno time. Construction follows the rest of the XYZ catalogue – full height-adjustable bodies independent of spring preload, so corner-weighting does not cost suspension travel. Where Racing Spec separates itself from the rest of the range is purpose. The damping curves are weighted toward the loads a car sees on track – sustained high-frequency input through chicanes, big single hits at compressions, and the slower weight transfer of a long-radius corner. XYZ Racing also offer a custom-build path on this damper for cars running heavily revised aero, larger-than-standard tyres, or A-class race spec – you supply the build sheet and target circuit, they revalve to suit.

Fitment for the Honda ACCORD CL7/8/9 (2002-2008)

This kit is built for the seventh-generation Honda Accord chassis code HN07, covering the CL7, CL8 and CL9 saloons (including the 2.4 K24-powered CL9) across the full 2002 to 2008 model run. Tourer-bodied variants on the same platform share the suspension geometry. Confirm trim against the configurator before ordering.
