XYZ Racing Super Sport Coilovers — Honda ACCORD CL7/8/9 2002-2008

The seventh-gen Accord saloon and Tourer were built around a comfort-biased double-wishbone front end that hides a properly capable chassis underneath. The CL7/8/9 has always responded well to spring and damper work – the standard set-up rolls more than it should and the front end washes wide long before the K-series in the nose runs out of breath. The XYZ Racing Super Sport addresses both ends of that problem without turning a daily Accord into something you regret on the school run.

This is the fast-road-with-occasional-track Super Sport spec – 36-way damping, height-adjustable, and tuned to live with British B-roads rather than fight them. For a 2.0i-VTEC saloon, a Type-S CL7, or a Tourer CL9 owner who actually uses the boot, this is the coilover that lets you drop the body, sharpen turn-in, and still drive the thing to Cadwell without your fillings working loose.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2008 Honda Accord

Drop the ride height and the CL7/8/9’s centre of gravity finally sits where the chassis engineers seemed to want it. Body roll through a mid-corner load change tightens up, the nose stops pushing as early, and the rear axle starts contributing to rotation instead of just following the front. The 36-way damping range is the part you’ll actually use week to week – soften the rebound a couple of clicks for a motorway run, firm it back up for a Sunday on the moors, and the car genuinely changes character. Brake feel improves too, because the front end stops diving onto the bump stops every time you lean on the pedal, so weight transfers progressively into the tyre instead of slamming into it.

About the Super Sport coilover

The Super Sport sits in XYZ Racing’s road-and-occasional-track band and is built around a 36-way damping adjuster that controls rebound and compression together on a single knob – one setting per corner, no guesswork. Ride height is independently adjustable from the spring perch, so corner weights and stance can be set without affecting damper stroke. The damper internals are engineered to soak up British road imperfections – broken tarmac, ridged repairs, mid-corner bumps – without losing body control when the pace picks up. XYZ specifically position this damper as suitable for both weekend competition use and daily driving, which is the use case most CL7/8/9 owners actually live with. Construction follows the same monotube architecture as the rest of the XYZ Racing range, with serviceable internals rather than a sealed throwaway unit.

Fitment for the Honda Accord (2002-2008)

Fits the seventh-generation Accord on the CL7, CL8 and CL9 chassis codes, covering the 2002-2008 production run in saloon and Tourer body styles. This covers the 2.0 and 2.4 i-VTEC petrol cars including the Type-S variants on the CL7/CL9. Confirm your chassis code from the VIN plate before ordering – the previous-gen CG and the later CU2 Accord use different mounting hardware.
