XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Ferrari 488 GTB (with hydraulic lift, excl.control system) 2016-2026

The 488 GTB was never meant to see a gravel stage – that is precisely why this damper exists. Taking a 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 and the FE03 chassis off tarmac demands a suspension philosophy that has almost nothing in common with the factory magnetorheological setup: longer stroke, inverted tubes, and spring rates calibrated for sandstone and silt rather than Fiorano kerbs.

This is the XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover for the 2016-2026 Ferrari 488 GTB with hydraulic lift (excluding the factory control system). It is built for one job – keeping a mid-engined supercar planted and composed when the road surface stops being a road.

What this coilover does for your 2016-2026 Ferrari 488 GTB

The inverted tube architecture moves the larger-diameter body to the top of the strut, where bending loads are highest under repeated gravel impacts. That construction protects the shaft when the car launches off a crest and lands with the full weight of the V8 hanging out behind the rear axle. The extended stroke gives the wheels room to actually follow the surface rather than skipping across it, which is the difference between traction and a 488 going sideways into the scenery. Spring rates have been set by XYZ’s rally programme rather than carried over from a tarmac chart, so the car squats progressively into corners instead of crashing through its travel. The result is a 488 GTB that you can drive on the throttle through loose, broken surfaces – something the standard car physically cannot do.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

This damper is developed specifically for rally and rallycross competition, where the surface is the most punishing in motorsport. The inverted tube layout is the structural answer to that: it stiffens the working section of the strut and reduces shaft flex when the wheel is being hammered by sandstone, snow or silt. Long-stroke internals paired with long springs let the suspension absorb high-frequency gravel chatter, soak up big-amplitude hits from rough sections, and still cope with the lateral G-loads of a fast directional change. Every spring rate offered has been tested by XYZ Racing’s rally teams in live competition rather than signed off on a dyno – the setup is a product of stage-time, not theory.

Fitment for the Ferrari 488 GTB (2016-2026)

Specified for the 488 GTB on the FE03 platform, 2016 through 2026, fitted with the factory hydraulic nose-lift system but excluding the factory electronic control system. The factory adaptive damping is replaced entirely by the XYZ unit – the OE controller is not retained.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
