XYZ Racing Circuit Master Coilovers — BMW I8 4WD 2014-2020

The BMW i8’s split-axle hybrid layout puts an electric motor on the front axle and the turbocharged 1.5-litre triple on the rear, so weight transfer under trail braking and on corner exit behaves differently to a conventional AWD platform. XYZ Racing’s Circuit Master coilover kit is built around that difference, giving the i8 4WD a chassis that can absorb the instant electric torque up front without unsettling the rear axle’s turbo-lag delivery.

For sustained circuit lap-time work, damping control also has to cope with the LifeDrive carbon tub’s mass distribution – the battery pack and drive module sit low in the centre tunnel and behind the cabin rather than spread across a conventional front-engined layout. This kit is built for drivers running the i8 on track days and repeated lapping sessions, not occasional fast-road use.

What this coilover kit does for your 2014-2020 BMW I8 4WD

With 9720 damping combinations across the Circuit Master’s 3 external adjustment knobs, you can tune compression and rebound separately for the i8’s electric front axle and combustion-driven rear axle instead of accepting one compromise setting. That range lets you stiffen the rear to control squat under the triple’s boost delivery while keeping the front supple enough to absorb the electric motor’s instant torque without scrubbing the outside front tyre on corner entry. Ride height adjustment also lets you correct the nose attitude the LifeDrive battery placement introduces, sharpening turn-in on a car built around a hybrid drivetrain rather than a track-focused chassis from the factory. On a 2014-2020 BMW I8 4WD, the result is a car that holds its line through direction changes instead of the mid-corner wallow the standard hybrid-tuned suspension allows for ride comfort.

About the Circuit Master coilover

Circuit Master sits at the top of XYZ Racing’s range, developed for drivers running competitive formats such as Racing Spec, Drift Spec and tarmac rally, and validated by XYZ’s own racing teams across international circuits through sustained testing. The damper uses 3 external adjustment knobs feeding a total of 9720 distinct damping combinations, giving a granularity most road-biased coilovers don’t offer. That range comes from a small-oil-hole valving design inside the damper body – on rough tarmac or kerbs you may notice a faint noise as oil passes through the restricted passage, which is a normal characteristic of this valving rather than a fault. The kit is set up around continuous circuit use rather than a single flying lap, so the damping and construction are built to hold their characteristics across repeated hot laps.

Fitment for the BMW I8 4WD (2014-2020)

This kit is built to the BM102 chassis code covering the BMW i8 4WD produced from 2014 to 2020. Confirm your build date falls within this range before ordering, since XYZ Racing specs the Circuit Master kit’s mounts and lengths to this exact chassis code rather than a generic i8 fitment.
