XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — BMW 5 SERIES F10 (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2010-2017

The F10 5 Series was never built to be thrown sideways over a forest stage. It was built to glide M25 traffic in adaptive comfort, with the EDC electronic dampers reading the road and softening the worst of it. Strip that brain out, hang a set of inverted-tube gravel coilovers in its place, and the BM75-C chassis becomes something the Munich product planners never costed for – a 1.7-tonne saloon that can survive sandstone, snow and silt at competition pace.

This Gravel Rally kit ships with the EDC cancellation harness, so the ABS/iDrive cluster stops throwing dash errors the moment the OE struts come out. From there it is a clean-sheet rally setup: long-stroke inverted dampers, long springs, and rates that have been signed off on actual rally stages rather than dyno graphs.

What this coilover does for your 2010-2017 Bmw 5 Series F10

On gravel, the F10’s biggest enemy is its own mass moving the wrong way at the wrong time – the rear axle going light over a crest, the nose ploughing wide on a damp hairpin. The inverted-tube layout puts the larger-diameter body up top where bending loads concentrate, which keeps the damper rod straighter under big sideways loads and resists the flex that murders a conventional twin-tube on the third stage of the day.

Long-stroke shocks and longer free-length springs give the wheels somewhere to go when a compression hits, instead of bottoming the bump-stop and pitching the car off line. You get usable wheel travel for landings, calmer behaviour over washboard, and brake pedal feel that does not collapse the first time you nail a yump flat. Stance drops to a sensible rally ride height with adjustment to fine-tune corner weights once the spare, jack and crew kit are loaded.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

The Gravel Rally is XYZ Racing’s specialist damper for rally and rallycross use, and it is built around one premise: gravel-cross is the most aggressive surface a competition car ever sees, so the shock absorber is the single most important component on the car. The inverted-tube construction is the answer to that, developed specifically to cope with the variance between sandstone, packed snow and loose silt without changing internals between rounds.

Stroke length is deliberately generous. Long springs work with that stroke to absorb chassis vibration on high-speed bouncy sections and to take repeated, hard G-loading through corners without packing down. Every spring rate in the range has been signed off by working rally teams on real stages, not approximated on a four-poster rig. The result is a damper that gives the same shape of response on lap one of recce as it does on the final stage of a long day.

Fitment for the Bmw 5 Series (2010-2017)

This kit is built specifically for the F10 5 Series chassis (BM75-C) covering the 2010-2017 production run, and includes the cancellation harness required to disable the factory Electronic Damping Control system without leaving a permanent fault code on the dash. Confirm at order time that your car was originally specified with EDC – the cancellation kit is unnecessary on cars that left the factory on passive dampers.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
