XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 φ55 WAGON (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2020

The Golf Mk7 Estate’s longer rear overhang loads the multi-link axle differently to the hatch under compression, and on a rough stage road that extra mass behind the rear wheels wants to keep moving after the chassis has already changed direction. The Tarmac Rally coilover is built to control that, giving the wagon’s rear end a damper response tuned for repeated hard hits rather than the single big compression a road car is set up for.

This kit also solves the practical problem facing any Mk7 fitted from the factory with electronic adaptive damping: the included cancellation kit for electronic damping replaces the DCC wiring at the rear so the car runs clean on fixed-valve dampers instead of throwing fault codes for missing solenoids. Bolt it on and you’re running a mechanical coilover, not fighting the ECU over it.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Estate

Fitted to the Golf Mk7 Wagon, the Tarmac Rally coilover keeps the rear multi-link geometry working through the kind of consecutive hits a sealed-stage road throws at a car – broken edges, camber changes, mid-corner bumps – without the body continuing to move once the wheel has already recovered. Ride height is adjustable independently front and rear, useful on the Estate where boot-loaded stage cars sit lower at the back than the hatch. The damping is set stiffer than a fast-road spec, which keeps the nose settled on turn-in and stops the tail stepping wide when you’re back on the throttle over crests. Because the rear cancellation kit removes the factory DCC control loop, damping response stays consistent from the first stage to the last instead of the adaptive system hunting for a setting mid-corner.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built specifically around sealed-stage tarmac rally use, where the surface is broken, cambered and inconsistent in a way closed-circuit tracks aren’t. The valving is set to absorb the impact of uneven pavement and take the edge off bigger hits without transmitting that shock straight into the body, which keeps the tyre loaded and gripping instead of skipping across the surface. That grip-first priority carries through into how the car sits and turns – the goal is stability you can lean on rather than a soft ride. The tune isn’t generic; XYZ Racing has carried its own Tarmac Rally programme settings across into this production kit, so the compression and rebound curves reflect what’s actually needed to keep a car composed at speed on a stage rather than a road-going compromise.

Fitment for the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 (2012-2020)

Built for the Golf Mk7 Estate fitted with the φ55 rear multi-link suspension, chassis code VO20-10-C, covering the 2012-2020 production run. This variant includes the rear cancellation kit for electronic damping, so it’s the correct spec for cars that left the factory with adaptive dampers fitted – confirm your car has the multi-link rear (rather than a torsion-beam Estate) before ordering.
