XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 Φ55 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rear Integrated 2012-2020

Loose surfaces don’t care how tidy a Golf MK7 is on tarmac. What decides whether the car stays composed over a rutted forest road, a snow-packed lane or a broken gravel apron is how much suspension travel is left before the chassis runs out of ideas. The XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover for this MK7’s multi-link-rear (VO20-4) chassis is built around exactly that: longer-stroke damping front and rear, giving the car a bigger buffer before a wheel bottoms out or unloads over a crest.

Where a circuit-focused Pro Racing kit chases the last millimetre of body control on smooth tarmac, this Gravel/Snow-spec version trades some of that stiffness for travel and endurance, so the Golf keeps its wheels tracking the surface across ruts, washboard and snowbanks instead of skipping over them.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Volkswagen GOLF MK7 Φ55 (Rr Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rr Integrated

The longer front and rear stroke gives the MK7 more room to absorb a sudden dip or crest without the damper hitting its end stop, which matters on stages and snow routes where the road surface changes metre to metre. Because this fitment is built specifically for the multi-link rear subframe rather than the standard torsion-beam Golf, each rear wheel can move independently, so one side can drop into a rut while the other keeps loading and driving. The damper’s enlarged internal oil and nitrogen gas volume is there to hold damping consistency over a long stage or a full day in the snow, rather than letting the oil heat up and the damping fall away the way a smaller-volume unit would. Three external adjustment knobs let you retune compression and rebound between a hard-packed gravel road and deep snow without swapping hardware.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

This damper is built with rally and rallycross use as the starting point rather than an afterthought. The extended front and rear travel is there to increase the buffer distance before the suspension runs out of stroke, keeping the car stable when the surface throws up an unexpected dip or ridge. XYZ Racing has increased the internal suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume specifically to stop the shock oil overheating and losing effectiveness during sustained hard use, which is where a road-biased damper typically fades. The three external adjustment knobs meter damping force through a deliberately small oil passage; on big hits you may hear a faint noise as oil moves through that narrow gallery, which is a by-product of the design rather than a fault. The result is a unit built to shrug off surface irregularities that would otherwise unsettle a standard damper.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 Φ55 (Rr Multi-Link Suspension) Modified Rr Integrated (2012-2020)

This kit is coded VO20-4 and covers Golf MK7 models built between 2012 and 2020 fitted with the multi-link rear suspension and the modified rear-integrated mounting, as opposed to the standard torsion-beam rear. Confirm your car uses this rear subframe configuration before ordering, since the mounting points differ from the base-spec Golf.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
