XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 φ50 WAGON (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2020

The Mk7 Golf Estate carries more weight over its multi-link rear axle than the hatchback it’s based on, and on cars specified with adaptive damping from the factory, that rear end is normally being managed electronically rather than through spring rate and valving alone. Fitting a fixed-rate coilover to one of these means resolving the DCC wiring first, which is exactly what this kit is built to do.

This is the Tarmac Rally spec, developed for sealed-stage events where the road surface is real tarmac rather than a smoothed circuit line. It is built to shrug off the mid-corner ridges, patched sections and camber changes that a stage route throws up, without the car skating off its intended line.

What this coilover brings to your build

Stage tarmac is rarely as clean as a track surface, and the damper tune here is set up to absorb the hit from a broken edge or a sudden camber change without kicking the rear axle off line mid-corner. The cancellation kit swaps out the Golf’s electronic damping control for a fixed mechanical setup, so the ride quality you dial in at the damper is the ride quality you actually get, corner after corner, rather than something an ECU is second-guessing. On the Wagon’s longer wheelbase and heavier rear end, that consistency matters more than on the three-door hatch, particularly under load transfer through fast direction changes. Front-to-rear balance is something you set once at the coilover, not something the car negotiates for you mid-stage.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built this damper specifically around tarmac rally use rather than adapting a circuit part for gravel-adjacent conditions. The valving is tuned to soak up the jolt from hitting a pothole or a rough patch at speed, keeping the body settled and the tyre loaded instead of letting the impact skip it off the surface. That matters directly for traction: a tyre that stays planted through a bump puts power down cleanly out of the corner, where one that’s still recovering from a hit doesn’t. XYZ Racing states the settings on this line come directly from its own Tarmac Rally programme rather than a desk exercise, which is the difference between a damper that behaves on paper and one that behaves on a stage. The result is a chassis that holds its stability through the kind of surface changes a closed-road event actually produces, rather than one tuned purely for a billiard-table circuit.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 Φ50 Wagon (Rr Multi-Link Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) (2012-2020)

Built for the Volkswagen Golf Mk7 Estate/Variant with the multi-link rear axle, chassis code VO20-9-C, across the 2012 to 2020 production run. This specific kit includes the cancellation hardware needed for cars fitted with electronic (DCC) damping control from the factory, so the coilover runs as a proper fixed-rate setup rather than fighting the original electronics.
