XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK7 φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2012-2020

Straight-line launches load a chassis in ways the MK7 Golf’s multi-link rear was never tuned for from the factory. Weight transfer off the line wants to unload the front axle and overload the rear, and on a car running electronic damping, the factory DCC control unit will fight that transfer instead of working with it – which is exactly why this kit pairs the coilover with a cancellation module for the electronic damping system.

The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built around one job: 0-400m runs, not lap after lap of corner-to-corner transitions. For a Golf running FWD, this means getting compression and rebound settings that favour launch stability over B-road compliance, on a platform that can be FWD or, in Golf R form, 4WD-equipped.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2020 Volkswagen GOLF

Removing the factory electronic damping and running XYZ’s own valving means the rear end no longer has to guess what a computer thinks a "comfort" or "sport" map should do mid-launch – it does what the driver’s throttle input demands instead. The kit is set up to redistribute front-to-rear weight bias in the instant the clutch or torque converter locks up, forcing more compression onto the driven wheels’ contact patch. On a MK7 Golf that means less initial wheelspin and a shorter window before the tyre stops scrubbing and starts gripping. Ride height and preload are adjustable independently of that damping change, so launch geometry can be set once and left alone between runs rather than re-checked every session.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ’s Drag Racing line is a dedicated 0-400m design, built to work across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms rather than being a track coilover repurposed for the strip. The core of the system is the deliberate front/rear weight-transfer behaviour: the coilover is valved to load the transmission’s driven wheels harder under hard acceleration, increasing tyre compression at exactly the moment wheelspin would otherwise cost a run. That extra compression cuts the idle time before the tyre bites and keeps the car stable at speed once it’s moving, rather than wandering under power. For this MK7 Golf application the kit ships as a cancellation-kit variant, meaning the factory electronic damping control is bypassed rather than left to interfere with the coilover’s own valving – a necessary step on any Golf originally fitted with DCC.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 (2012-2020)

This kit is built for the Volkswagen GOLF MK7 φ50 rear multi-link chassis, chassis code VO20-1-C, covering model years 2012 to 2020. It is the cancellation-kit variant specifically for cars fitted with electronic damping control from the factory – confirm your Golf has DCC before ordering this version rather than the standard mechanical-damping kit.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.
