XYZ Racing Pro Racing Gravel/Snow Coilovers — Volkswagen GOLF MK6 GTI φ55 (Modified Rear Integrated) (Cancellation Kit for Electronic Damping) 2008-2012

The MK6 GTI’s factory Dynamic Chassis Control was never built with gravel or rallycross use in mind, and swapping to a mechanical coilover on this chassis means the electronic damping control has to be properly cancelled, not just bypassed with a workaround. XYZ Racing’s Pro Racing Gravel/Snow kit for this fitment does exactly that, with the rear axle fully integrated into the cancellation kit so nothing is left half-converted between front and rear.

It is built for surfaces where a circuit-spec coilover would bottom out or cook its oil within a handful of runs. Rallycross and gravel-stage Golfs live on kerbs, ruts and crowned surfaces, and this kit gives the front-driven MK6 GTI more shaft travel and a larger internal reservoir than the road-going ranges in the XYZ line-up, rather than a road kit pressed into service somewhere it was never meant to work.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2012 Volkswagen GOLF MK6 GTI

On loose or broken surfaces, the MK6 GTI’s nose wants to dive and the rear wants to step out on lift-off, both symptoms of a stock damper running out of usable travel and heat capacity within a handful of stages. The extended front and rear travel on this kit buys the chassis room to move before it bottoms, which keeps the front tyres loaded through a compression rather than skating over the top of a rut. Because the electronic damping cancellation is fully integrated at the rear, the GTI’s rear axle behaves like a conventional coilover-equipped car instead of fighting a disabled DCC module, so throttle-off rotation stays predictable rather than getting an unexpected assist or resistance from a system that no longer has anything left to control. The larger suspension oil and nitrogen gas volume matters most on longer gravel stages or repeated rallycross heats, where a smaller-capacity damper would see internal temperature climb and damping fade from one run to the next.

About the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow coilover

XYZ Racing built the Pro Racing Gravel/Snow line for rally and rallycross use rather than tarmac circuits, and the spec reflects that brief. Both the front and rear dampers run noticeably longer travel than XYZ’s road and circuit kits, giving the suspension a bigger buffer before it runs out of stroke over compressions, jumps and rutted gravel. Inside, the shock carries a larger volume of suspension oil and nitrogen gas than a standard damper, which is what keeps internal pressure and oil temperature under control through a full stage or a day of repeat runs rather than letting damping fade as the oil heats up. Damping adjustment runs through three separate knobs, and the oil is metered through a deliberately small passage at each one; on rough ground this can produce a faint noise as oil moves through that restriction under a hard hit, which is normal for this design rather than a fault. It is a damper built to be worked hard on loose and uneven ground, not to sit quietly on a smooth circuit.

Fitment for the Volkswagen GOLF MK6 GTI (2008-2012)

This kit is built for the Golf MK6 GTI, chassis code VO19-1-A-C, across the 2008 to 2012 production run, in the φ55 strut diameter fitment. It is the modified-rear-integrated version with the cancellation kit for the factory electronic damping control included, so the rear axle is converted alongside the front rather than left running the original hardware.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. With longer travel for both front and rear, it increases bigger buffer distance to keep the car stable. The most advantages of this product is to extend the amount of suspension oil and nitrogen gas which can increase the stability of the shocks and prevent the shock oil temperature too high from being exhausted after long-term use.

Because its 3 adjustment knobs with small oil hole design, when driving through big bumps, the coilover oil will go through small passage which might cause some small noise. This is normal situation. This product is made for circuit tracks and there will be no concern for bumps on the tracks.
