XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Volkswagen BORA φ50 (Modified Rear Integrated) 1998-2005

The Bora rides on VW’s PQ34 platform, which means the same multi-link rear axle as the Mk4 Golf tucked under three-box saloon bodywork – and on cars where that rear end has already been opened up for serious circuit use, the damper has to be built around the modification, not bolted on despite it. XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec coilover is specced for exactly that: a 50mm rear damper body sized for the modified, rear-integrated mounting some track-prepared Boras run, with valving pulled from development work done alongside WTCC-level touring car racing.

This is the range XYZ Racing reserves for cars that see timed sessions and repeat heat cycles rather than the odd trackday. On the 1998-2005 Bora it’s aimed at owners who’ve already committed to a track-focused rear axle and need a coilover that was designed to sit on it, not adapted after the fact.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2005 Volkswagen BORA φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated)

With the rear damper body matched to the modified rear-integrated mounting, load goes into the suspension the way it was designed to rather than through a compromised interface – which matters on a saloon carrying VW’s nose-heavy four-cylinder layout into fast direction changes. Ride height and damping are both adjustable, so you can set the Bora’s stance and platform control independently once the rear geometry is sorted. Because the valving was developed from competition running rather than road-biased comfort targets, the front and rear stay consistent as the car heats a set of tyres through a session instead of softening off after the first few laps. For a saloon that’s already had rear-end surgery, that consistency is the point of buying into the Racing Spec tier rather than a fast-road kit.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ Racing’s dedicated circuit-racing damper, and its base settings weren’t guessed at on a rig – they came out of direct involvement in racing series including the WTCC, where damping decisions get tested against real lap times rather than a spec sheet. For Boras running genuinely aggressive modifications, comparable to what you’d see on a factory racing car or an A-class competition build, XYZ Racing also offers bespoke shock absorbers built to order: send over what’s already been changed on the car and which circuit it’s aimed at, and the damper gets built around that specific combination rather than a generic template. It’s a range built for owners who’ve moved past off-the-shelf suspension and need hardware that keeps pace with the rest of the build.

Fitment for the Volkswagen BORA φ50 (Modified Rr Integrated) (1998-2005)

Built for the Volkswagen Bora, chassis code VO03-A, across the 1998-2005 production run. The φ50 rear damper body is specifically for cars running the modified, rear-integrated suspension mounting rather than the stock rear end – check your car’s rear axle configuration against this spec before ordering.
