XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Toyota CROWN GRS 180/181/182 2003-2008

The S180 Crown was built to glide. It is a soft, long-travel executive saloon that floats over motorway expansion joints and leans hard the instant you ask it to change direction. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover takes that comfort-biased GRS 180/181/182 chassis and gives it the body control a sealed special stage demands, without stripping out the compliance that keeps a heavy rear-driven saloon planted over broken tarmac.

This is suspension set up from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme. Where a circuit kit chases a flat, dry response on smooth kerbs, the Tarmac Rally spec is valved to absorb mid-corner impacts and keep the tyre loaded when the surface turns lumpy and unpredictable.

What this coilover does for your 2003-2008 Toyota Crown

Fit it and the first thing you feel is that the Crown stops wallowing. Roll through quick direction changes is reined in, the long nose settles under braking instead of diving, and the rear axle stops pattering when you get back on the throttle over a patched surface. Because the damping is built to swallow a big single hit rather than just fight it, the GRS 180/181/182 keeps its tyres in contact over crests, broken edges and mid-bend ruts – which is where traction and stability actually come from on a stage. Dropping the ride height closes the factory wheel-gap and lowers the centre of gravity of a tall, heavy car, so you get a saloon you can lean on rather than one you steer around.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally coilover is engineered for one job: sealed-stage rallying on imperfect public roads. Every setting carries over from XYZ Racing’s competition tarmac experience, so the valving is deliberately biased toward impact absorption rather than the stiff, flat tune of a track kit. The damper is built to take the jolt of a large bump and dissipate it, suppressing the shock that would otherwise be fed into the bodyshell and unsettle the car. That controlled compliance is what increases tyre traction over uneven pavement – the contact patch stays planted instead of skipping – and it is what gives the Crown its stability when the road is doing its best to throw the car off line. Height-adjustable and serviceable, it is genuine competition hardware rather than a fast-road half-measure.

Fitment for the Toyota Crown GRS 180/181/182 (2003-2008)

This kit is mapped to the twelfth-generation S180 Crown under chassis codes GRS 180, 181 and 182, across the 2003 to 2008 model years. Check your car’s exact GRS code and year against the listing before ordering, and the configurator will confirm the correct spec for your saloon.
