XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Toyota AVALON XLS (TYPE 1) 1994-1999

The first-generation Avalon XLS rode on Toyota’s long-wheelbase, Camry-derived platform, tuned soft for motorway miles rather than loose surfaces. Its transverse 1MZ-FE V6 sits well forward, loading the nose, and the standard dampers run out of travel the moment the road turns rough. The XYZ Racing Gravel Rally coilover is built for the opposite world: dirt, sandstone, snow and silt taken at speed.

This is a long-travel, gravel-stage suspension rather than a tarmac kit. For anyone turning a TO05 Avalon into a rough-road or gravel machine, it trades the factory’s comfort bias for damping that keeps the tyres planted when the surface stops cooperating.

What this coilover does for your 1994-1999 Toyota Avalon XLS

The long stroke is the headline. Where the standard Avalon strut bottoms out over ruts and crests, the Gravel Rally’s extended travel and long spring keep the wheel following the ground instead of skipping across it. That matters most at the heavy front axle, where the V6’s mass wants to push the nose wide – more usable travel means more grip held through a loose corner. The inverted damper body resists the side loads a long-wheelbase saloon generates mid-slide, so the car stays composed when you are carrying speed across broken ground. The net effect is confidence on surfaces this chassis was never asked from the factory to handle.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed the Gravel Rally damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where the road surface is the most punishing in motorsport. The construction centres on an inverted tube design, chosen so one damper can cope with wildly different surfaces – sandstone, packed snow and soft silt – without losing control of the wheel. Long stroke and a long spring work together to soak up chassis vibration, absorb the hits of a fast, bouncy stage, and carry the heavy cornering loads that gravel driving throws at the suspension. Every spring rate in the range was set and validated by XYZ Racing’s own rally team, so the damping is matched to real stage conditions rather than a bench figure. It is a specialist tool built for one job: keeping a car fast and controllable when the surface underneath is anything but smooth.

Fitment for the Toyota Avalon XLS (1994-1999)

This kit is cut for the type 1 Toyota Avalon XLS, chassis code TO05, covering the 1994 to 1999 model years. It mounts to that generation’s strut locations as a direct fitment. Confirm your chassis code and build year against the listing before ordering.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
