XYZ Racing Top Sport Coilovers — Toyota ARISTO JZS147 1991-1996

The JZS147 Aristo carries a long iron-block straight-six slung over its front axle and rides on suspension Toyota tuned for hushed luxury, not lateral grip. That factory softness is exactly what masks the chassis once you push it – the body leans, the nose washes wide, and the rear settles a beat too late. The XYZ Racing Top Sport coilover for the Toyota Aristo JZS147 is built to claw that body control back without turning a 1990s luxury saloon into a kidney-punching track refugee.

Top Sport sits where most JZS147 owners actually use the car: occasional track days backed by daily street driving. It firms the platform enough to corner flat and load the tyres cleanly, while keeping enough travel and compliance to live with on broken UK B-roads.

What this coilover does for your 1991-1996 Toyota Aristo JZS147

Drop the ride height and the Aristo’s centre of gravity falls with it, trimming the roll the standard dampers allow at turn-in. The stiffer Top Sport valving – XYZ quote 30 to 50 percent more damping than a street tune – stops the heavy nose diving under braking, so the front tyres bite when you trail into a corner rather than skating across the surface. Height adjustment lets you correct the slightly tail-up factory rake and set a proper corner balance against the 2JZ’s mass up front. On the road you feel a saloon that finally tracks true through fast sweepers; on circuit you feel one that no longer pushes wide every time you load the outside front.

About the Top Sport coilover

XYZ build the Top Sport around a deliberate step up from a comfort setting: roughly 30 to 50 percent more damping force, or about 2kg/mm more spring rate, than a street-biased kit. The thinking is traction, not harshness. The extra rate and control let the suspension absorb a sharp ridge or a kerb strike and recover quickly, pressing the tyre back onto the road instead of letting the body pitch and skip across it. That composure is what XYZ mean by stability – the platform stays settled when the surface is not, so your steering inputs translate into the line you asked for. The settings come straight from XYZ Racing’s own Top Sport development work, and the kit is aimed at track-day use and harder road driving rather than outright competition. For a heavy JZS147 saloon, that bias towards damped control over raw stiffness is the right call.

Fitment for the Toyota Aristo JZS147 (1991-1996)

This kit is built specifically for the first-generation Toyota Aristo on the JZS147 chassis, covering the 1991 to 1996 production run. That platform spans both the naturally aspirated 2JZ-GE and the twin-turbo 2JZ-GTE cars, which share the same mounting points. Confirm your chassis code reads JZS147 before ordering.
