XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Skoda OCTAVIA 5E WAGON φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) 2013-2019

The Octavia 5E Wagon’s rear multi-link axle carries genuine load when a rally-prepped estate is fuelled, caged and packed for a stage, and on broken tarmac that load shows up as body movement that a stock damper was never tuned to control. XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built for exactly that surface: sealed, closed-road tarmac riddled with camber changes, patched repairs and mid-corner ridges, rather than the smooth, swept line of a circuit.

Fitted to the Octavia 5E Wagon (2013-2019), this kit trades outright single-lap stiffness for a damper that stays composed when the road surface doesn’t. It’s the right call for anyone running this estate on sealed stages or fast, rough B-roads, where holding the car together over successive hits matters more than one perfect apex.

What this coilover does for your 2013-2019 Skoda Octavia

On stage, the biggest threat to pace usually isn’t a lack of outright grip, it’s the car losing its composure over a bump mid-corner. This coilover’s damping is set up to absorb a big hit, a sunken drain cover, a patched repair, a ridge thrown up by a previous car, without kicking the body sideways or letting the wheel unload. That keeps the tyre loaded and working instead of skipping, which on a wagon carrying rally ballast and spare-wheel weight over the rear axle is where stock setups tend to give up first. The multi-link rear geometry on this chassis responds well to that kind of control: with the damper doing its job, the axle tracks the road surface rather than reacting to it, and the car holds its line through compressions instead of stepping wide. On the road, that means an Octavia Wagon that stays flat and predictable when the tarmac turns rough, not only when it’s smooth.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built the Tarmac Rally line around sealed-surface stage driving, where the road throws up sharper, less predictable inputs than a circuit ever will. The valving is calibrated to soak up the impact of uneven pavement, a big hit gets absorbed rather than passed straight into the chassis, and that control keeps the contact patch loaded through the bump instead of skipping across it, which is where the tyre’s traction actually comes from on damaged or loose-edged tarmac. The settings dialled into this damper come out of XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme rather than a generic road-and-track compromise, so the balance between compliance and control is set for stage use first. On the Octavia’s multi-link rear, that shows up as a car that settles quickly after a compression instead of carrying the movement into the next section, which is exactly what a stage car needs when the next bump arrives before the last one has settled.

Fitment for the Skoda Octavia (2013-2019)

This kit is built for the Octavia 5E Wagon fitted with the φ50 rear multi-link suspension, chassis code SK17, across the 2013 to 2019 production run. Confirm your Octavia Wagon has the multi-link rear axle rather than the torsion-beam layout fitted to other trims before ordering, as the two setups use different rear geometry.
