XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Seat LEON 5F φ50 (Rear Multi-Link Suspension) 2012-2026

The Leon 5F’s rear multi-link axle – the Φ50 damper-body version fitted to cars that skipped the cheaper torsion-beam setup – gives a stage car something a budget hatch rarely has: independent rear wheel control when the road surface stops behaving like tarmac. Crests, compressions, mid-corner ridges and patched-up B-road tarmac all load that rear axle unevenly, and a fixed factory damper simply can’t keep up once you’re pushing on a closed or timed stage.

XYZ Racing’s Tarmac Rally coilover is built around that exact problem. It’s a sealed-stage tarmac rally application for the 2012-2026 Seat Leon 5F, not a fast-road compromise dressed up as one, and every setting on it comes from XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme rather than a generic road-car baseline.

What this coilover does for your 2012-2026 Seat LEON 5F Φ50 (Rr Multi-link Suspension)

On a stage, the biggest threat to lap time isn’t outright grip – it’s the car losing composure over a surface change mid-corner. This damper is calibrated to soak up exactly that: a big hit from a broken edge or a compression gets absorbed rather than passed straight into the chassis, so the body stays settled instead of pattering or pogoing off-line. Keeping the body still keeps the contact patch loaded, which is what actually puts the tyre’s grip on the road rather than in the air for a fraction of a second after every bump. The practical result on the Leon 5F is a rear axle that tracks through direction changes instead of skipping, and a front end that holds its line under trail-braking into a stage corner rather than washing wide the moment the surface gets rough. Ride height and corner-weighting are also adjustable, so the car can be balanced for a specific stage’s camber and crown rather than left at a compromise setting.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper built specifically for sealed-stage tarmac rally use, where surface breaks, crests and mid-corner bumps arrive at speeds and frequencies a road-focused coilover isn’t calibrated for. The valving is set to soak up hard, sudden inputs – a pothole edge or a compression taken flat – without the shock passing straight through to the body, which is what keeps the tyre loaded and gripping rather than skipping across the surface. That control is what XYZ calls vehicle stability: the car holding its intended line through a bump rather than being deflected by it. Every damping stage in this line comes directly out of XYZ’s own tarmac rally programme rather than being adapted from a track-day base, which is why the character of the damper is tuned for repeated hard hits over a stage distance rather than smooth, consistent circuit tarmac.

Fitment for the Seat LEON 5F Φ50 (Rr Multi-link Suspension) (2012-2026)

Built specifically for the Seat Leon 5F fitted with the Φ50 (50mm) rear damper body and independent multi-link rear suspension, chassis code SE23-1, covering the 2012 to 2026 model years. This kit is matched to that rear-axle configuration – if your Leon 5F runs the torsion-beam rear, this is not the correct spec, so confirm your rear suspension type before ordering.
