XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Porsche 992 CARRERA-2/S CABRIOLET (without hydraulic lift system) 2019-2026

The 992 sits at an unusual intersection for a tarmac rally platform: 38/62 front-rear weight distribution carried forward from decades of rear-engine 911 development, a layout that generates real traction advantage on the driven axle while demanding precise spring and damper calibration to keep the front axle composed over broken surfaces at speed. In Cabriolet form – carrying the additional mass of the folding hood mechanism and the structural reinforcement needed to compensate for the absent roof panel – that calibration requirement is specific to this body style, not a coupé tune applied to a different silhouette.

The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover for the 992 Carrera-2/S Cabriolet targets sealed-stage competition: closed-road tarmac events where a surface exists but surface quality doesn’t. Concrete section joins, drainage channel frames, cattle grid crossings, and chicane kerbs are routine inputs on a competitive stage, and damping calibrated purely for road use will lose chassis composure when those inputs arrive at speed.

What this coilover does for your 2019-2026 Porsche 992 Carrera-2/S Cabriolet

The rear-engine 992’s front axle carries relatively little static weight, which means it loads and unloads rapidly over compressions and crests – front tyre contact can momentarily drop where a front-heavy car would simply compress through. This coilover’s damper valving absorbs sharp, high-energy bump inputs and suppresses body movement in response to them, maintaining tyre contact over the kind of surface irregularities that would break traction under a standard PASM tune. On the Cabriolet specifically, the additional body mass from the hood mechanism alters roll and pitch response relative to the coupé; the valving reflects this rather than treating both body styles identically. Consistent traction on the rear axle – the critical variable in corner exit for a rear-engine, rear-drive car – is the direct result of that stability.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

The Tarmac Rally series is XYZ Racing’s closed-stage competition damper, calibrated for tarmac rally surfaces rather than circuit or fast-road applications. The internal valving addresses two distinct input types: the high-frequency surface texture of imperfect tarmac sustained over a full stage distance, and the single-event large-amplitude jolts of drainage crossings, road damage, and kerb strikes at competitive pace. Both are constant features of tarmac competition, and both require a different damper response from the same unit. Settings are drawn directly from XYZ Racing’s tarmac rally programme – not adapted from a road or track specification, but developed from experience on sealed stages. Absorbing the shock of significant surface strikes while keeping the body settled and rear tyre traction consistent was the design priority throughout.

Fitment for the Porsche 992 Carrera-2/S Cabriolet (2019-2026)

This kit covers the 992 generation (chassis PO20) Carrera-2 and Carrera-S Cabriolet in rear-wheel-drive configuration across model years 2019 to 2026. The single fitment caveat is the hydraulic front-axle lift system: cars specified with the optional HLS have a different front strut architecture and are not compatible with this kit. Confirm the absence of HLS on your car’s original order document or specification sheet before purchasing.

The HLS caveat makes spec confirmation before ordering more important here than on most 992 fitments. Once you’ve verified your car is non-HLS, configure your kit using the options below.

This damper is designed for Tarmac Rally; it can absorb the impact of uneven pavement. It is able to absorb the jolt when across a big bumps, effectively suppress shock body and to increase tire’s traction. Vehicle stability makes you can experience perfect handling.
