XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Nissan PRIMERA P11 (Rear Bolt Distance φ172) 1998-2002

The Primera P11’s front-wheel-drive layout puts engine, gearbox and driven wheels all over the same axle, so power delivery and cornering load are constantly fighting for grip through the same two contact patches. On a car whose baseline damping data comes out of the World Touring Car Championship, that’s exactly the problem XYZ Racing’s Racing Spec coilover was built to manage. This isn’t a fast-road spring-and-shock upgrade; it’s specified for serious track and time-attack use, where repeated hard braking into apexes and hard traction on exit will expose anything soft left in the setup.

For a P11 running in anger on a track day or in time-attack competition, that means damping firm enough to control body movement under trail-braking without turning the car into something you dread driving to the circuit. XYZ Racing built the Racing Spec range directly from data gathered running cars at WTCC level, and that background is what separates it from a generic aftermarket kit.

What this coilover does for your 1998-2002 Nissan Primera P11

Fit the Racing Spec kit to a P11 and the first change you feel is under braking: firmer low-speed compression damping and a higher spring rate keep the nose from diving into the corner, which keeps the outside front tyre properly loaded and gives you a consistent, repeatable turn-in point rather than one that shifts session to session. Through the corner itself, the added roll control cuts into the understeer this chassis shows when pushed hard, letting you carry more speed before the front tyres let go. On the way out, the same control that steadies the nose under braking settles the rear axle under acceleration, reducing the wheel patter and torque reaction that comes through a stock set of dampers when you’re back on the throttle early out of slow corners. Ride height is adjustable through the coilover body too, so the Primera can be dropped for a lower centre of gravity on track, then raised again for the drive home.

About the Racing Spec coilover

The Racing Spec damper sits at the top of the XYZ Racing coilover range and is developed specifically for circuit racing rather than road use. Its baseline valving wasn’t arrived at on a bench in isolation – it comes out of XYZ Racing’s direct involvement running cars in the World Touring Car Championship, where damper behaviour gets validated against a stopwatch, not a spec sheet. That competition background is also why the range doesn’t stop at a fixed catalogue setting: where a car has already had significant chassis or aero work, or is being built to compete at a serious level, XYZ Racing can produce a custom-valved shock absorber matched to the specific modifications on the car and the circuit it will be run on. For a P11 pushed beyond bolt-on modifications, that custom route sits behind the standard Racing Spec kit as an option.

Fitment for the Nissan Primera P11 (1998-2002)

This kit is specified for the Nissan Primera P11, chassis code NI27, produced between 1998 and 2002, and is matched to cars with a rear bolt distance of φ172mm. P11s left the factory with more than one rear mounting configuration across the production run, so confirm this measurement against your car before ordering.
