XYZ Racing Drag Racing Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz CLK C209 4 CYL 2002-2007

Straight-line launches punish a 1.4-tonne coupe chassis in ways corner work never does: all that mass transfers rearward the instant you release the clutch, and a C209 CLK running its factory 4-cylinder set-up has nowhere near enough rear-end bite to put that torque down cleanly. The XYZ Racing Drag Racing coilover is built around that exact problem rather than around cornering compliance.

Where a track-focused kit chases consistent mid-corner grip, this set-up is tuned for the first half-second off the line – getting weight onto the rear tyres fast enough that the CLK stops spinning up and starts moving.

What this coilover does for your 2002-2007 Mercedes Benz CLK C209

The core trick here is deliberate front-to-rear weight transfer under launch, set up through the coilover’s height and damping so the nose lifts and load shifts onto the rear axle the moment power goes down. On a C209 that’s normally nose-heavy at rest, that shift matters more than usual – you’re working against the chassis’s natural balance, not with it. The compression side is calibrated to let the rear tyre compress hard and stay loaded rather than skipping over the surface, which is what actually shortens the 60-foot time. Less wheel spin off the line means less wasted power and less heat going into a tyre that’s already working at its limit. It’s a set-up that trades away the tidy mid-corner manners most road coilovers protect, in favour of getting a heavy 4-cylinder CLK moving in the shortest possible distance.

About the Drag Racing coilover

XYZ Racing built this range specifically for 0-400m drag work across FWD, RWD and 4WD platforms, which covers the CLK’s front-engine, rear-drive layout directly. The valving is set up so the car’s weight shifts rearward onto the transmission-side wheels the instant the driver gets on the throttle, forcing the rear tyre into a harder compression state than a standard coilover would allow. That harder compression is what cuts the wheel’s idle time – the brief moment where a spinning tyre isn’t actually converting power into forward motion – and in turn keeps the car more stable at higher speed once it’s rolling. It’s a purpose-narrow tool: rather than splitting the difference between grip, ride and cornering feel, every part of the tune is aimed at one number, the run down the strip.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz CLK C209 (2002-2007)

This kit is built for the C209-generation CLK, 4-cylinder variants, covering the 2002 to 2007 model years. Chassis code ME19 in our system corresponds to this exact C209 4-cylinder range, so confirm your registration falls within that window before ordering.

What buyers also search for

  • Mercedes Benz CLK C209 coilovers built for drag racing launches rather than circuit driving.
  • CLK C209 4-cylinder suspension set-up for reducing wheel spin off the line.
  • Mercedes Benz CLK weight-transfer coilover kit for 0-400m runs.
  • C209 CLK rear-tyre traction improvements for straight-line acceleration.

This is a specialist launch set-up rather than an all-rounder, so configure yours below to match your CLK’s exact spec.

The coilovers are specially designed for 0~400 drag racing such as FWD, RWD or 4WD models. The setting allows vehicle to change the front and rear weight according to the transmission wheel in instant driving, and force the transmission tire having greater compression, which can reduce the idle time of wheel and improve the stability of the vehicle under high speed.

Top mounts included with your kit

Every XYZ Racing coilover kit ships with the upper mounts listed below for your exact chassis — no extra parts to source.

  • OE (factory) mount top mountOE (factory) mountOERetains the OEM (factory) upper mount — preserves the original ride comfort, noise and vibration behaviour for a stock-like feel.
