XYZ Racing Gravel Rally Coilovers — Mercedes-Benz A CLASS W177 A25 4WD φ53 (Modified Rear Integrated) 2019-2026

The W177 A25 4WD’s Haldex-coupled all-wheel-drive system was built for tarmac traction, not sandstone and silt, and that’s precisely the gap this Gravel Rally coilover closes. Where the standard damper folds under repeated bounce-and-land loading over a rutted stage, the inverted-tube design here is set up to survive the abuse a genuine gravel or rallycross event throws at a compact 4WD hatch.

For anyone campaigning an A25 on loose surfaces, the standard suspension’s short travel becomes the limiting factor long before the engine does. This kit exists to fix that, with a spring and stroke package specifically aimed at gravel-stage use rather than circuit lapping.

What this coilover does for your 2019-2026 Mercedes Benz A Class

Long stroke and long spring travel let the A25’s chassis absorb the vibration and chop that a gravel surface generates at speed, instead of transmitting it straight into the subframe and the driver’s hands. The inverted-tube construction is aimed squarely at coping with the range of loose-surface conditions a rally stage throws up – sandstone, snow, silt – where a fixed, road-biased valving would either wallow or bottom out. On a nose-heavy 4WD platform like the W177, controlling aggressive weight transfer under hard braking into a corner and high-G cornering load matters as much as ride height; this setup is built to bear that load rather than fold under it. The Modified Rr Integrated rear mounting keeps the geometry change consistent with the donor chassis, so the increased travel doesn’t come at the cost of predictable rear-end behaviour on camber changes and crests.

About the Gravel Rally coilover

XYZ Racing built this damper specifically for rally and rallycross use, where road conditions are the most punishing of any motorsport discipline and the shock absorber becomes the single most stressed component on the car. The inverted-tube layout is a deliberate choice to handle the variety of loose-surface conditions a rally car meets across a season – sand, snow, and silt each load a damper differently, and the construction is set up to cope with all three rather than being tuned for one. Long stroke and long spring travel are the headline spec: enough movement to absorb chassis vibration and repeated high-speed compressions without the damper running out of travel mid-stage. The unit is also built to take extreme G-force loading through direction changes, which on a gravel stage arrives far more abruptly than on tarmac. Every spring rate offered in this range has been set through XYZ Racing’s rally team testing rather than bench figures alone, which is the basis for the rates available on this specific application.

Fitment for the Mercedes Benz A Class (2019-2026)

Built for the W177-generation A Class in A25 4WD guise with φ53 damper body, covering the 2019 to 2026 model years. This spec uses the Modified Rr Integrated rear mounting configuration, so confirm your rear end matches this integration type before ordering.

Built around the demands of a full rally season rather than a single stage, this kit gives the A25 4WD the travel and construction to keep working when the terrain changes underneath it – configure yours below.

This damper is mainly design for Rally Racing or Rally Cross. In all racing events, road condition of Rally Cross is the most aggressive one. Hence, it means that the shock absorber is the most important utensil during the Rally gravel competition. We develop inverted tube design to meet each different road condition as sandstone, snow or silt. Long stroke and long spring which enable to absorb chassis vibration, aggressively attack from high speed bouncy road and bear extremely G-force when turning. All spring rate setting are tested by Rally Racing team.
