XYZ Racing Street Advanced Coilovers — Mazda RX8 SE3P 2003-2008

The RX8 SE3P is one of the most chassis-honest cars Mazda ever sold – a front-mid-engined, near-50:50 four-seater with a double-wishbone front and multi-link rear that responds to suspension work the way a much more expensive car does. The factory dampers were good in 2003, but two decades on most SE3Ps are riding on tired OEM struts that mask what the platform actually wants to do. A proper coilover kit transforms an RX8 more dramatically than almost any other mod, including the obvious engine ones.

XYZ Racing builds coilover kits specifically for the SE3P across the Street Advanced, Super Sport, Circuit Master, Drift Spec and Racing Spec ranges, with damping and spring rates matched to how owners actually use the car – whether that’s a daily that still sees the occasional B-road blast, or a weekend track tool that needs to keep up with cars carrying twice the power.

What these coilovers do for your 2003-2008 Mazda RX8

The SE3P responds to a stiffer, better-damped setup with sharper turn-in and the kind of mid-corner composure the soft factory springs never quite found. Drop the nose 25-35mm and the visual stance comes good, but the real change is how the chassis settles between direction changes – the rear stops floating, the front stops diving under hard braking into a hairpin, and the car finally rotates the way the wheelbase and weight distribution suggest it should. Adjustable damping lets you separate ride from handling: softer clicks for the daily commute, firmer for a track day, without changing springs. Camber plates on most of the XYZ ranges also let you dial out the tyre-edge wear the SE3P is notorious for once it’s lowered.

About the XYZ Racing coilover range

XYZ builds these as twin-tube and monotube kits depending on the series, all with 32-step or 36-step damping adjustment, pillowball top mounts where the chassis allows, and hardened chrome-plated piston rods. Spring rates vary by intended use – Street Advanced sits closer to OEM stiffness for fast-road work, Super Sport climbs higher for circuit duty, and the Racing Spec is built around track-only rates. Each kit is shimmed and valved for the SE3P specifically, not adapted from a generic strut platform, and the ride-height adjustment is independent of preload so you can run a low car without binding the springs.

Fitment for the Mazda RX8 (2003-2008)

These kits fit the SE3P chassis RX8 across the full 2003-2008 production run, covering both the 192bhp and 231bhp Renesis variants, manual and auto. The front strut and rear shock locations are common across the range so all SE3P trim levels are covered by the same part numbers.
