XYZ Racing Racing Spec Coilovers — Mazda 2 (DE) 2008-2014

The DE-generation Mazda 2 is one of the lightest hot hatches Britain ever got hold of – sub-1,000kg in lower trims, a stubby wheelbase, and a front end that responds the instant you ask it to turn. The factory suspension was tuned for school-run compliance, which on a B-road leaves the chassis floating long after the apex is gone. The XYZ Racing Racing Spec coilover for the 2008-2014 Mazda 2 (DE) is the kit you bolt on when you want that little Mazda to actually use its weight advantage.

Racing Spec sits at the harder end of the XYZ ladder. It is built for circuit use first, with road manners a secondary consideration – the right call on a car this light, because the DE rewards stiffness more than a heavier chassis would.

What this coilover does for your 2008-2014 Mazda 2 (DE)

Spring rates and damping in the Racing Spec range bring the DE’s body movements under control in a way the OE struts never attempted. Turn-in sharpens because the front end stops rolling onto its outside shoulder mid-corner, and the rear axle – light and willing on this car – rotates cleanly on a trailing throttle instead of skating. Ride-height adjustment lets you drop the centre of gravity without the spring-bind issues that come from cutting OE springs. The 30-way damping band gives you a usable window for both Cadwell on a Sunday and the commute on Monday, even if the bias is firmly toward the former. Pillowball top mounts at the front sharpen steering feel and remove the rubber compliance that softens every input on the standard car.

About the Racing Spec coilover

Racing Spec is XYZ’s circuit-oriented monotube damper. The bodies are large-piston monotubes with separate compression and rebound circuits, machined from corrosion-treated steel for British weather. Spring rates are stepped up significantly over the road-biased Super Sport and Drift Spec ranges, with linear-rate springs sized to match the DE’s kerb weight rather than a generic small-car average. The 30 clicks of damping adjustment cover a wide enough band to fine-tune for grip level and tyre choice. Camber-adjustable front top mounts come as standard, which on the DE matters because the factory geometry gives you almost nothing to play with from the strut alone. Each kit ships pre-assembled and corner-weighted from the factory in Taiwan.

Fitment for the Mazda 2 (DE) (2008-2014)

This kit is built specifically for the DE-chassis Mazda 2 across the full 2008-2014 production run, covering both pre- and post-facelift cars. It fits the 1.3, 1.5, and 1.6-litre petrol variants and the 1.4 diesel sold in UK and European markets. The front uses MacPherson struts with the XYZ top-mount design; the rear uses the OE-style torsion-beam mounting points.
