XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Kia SPORTAGE NQ5 2023-2026

The NQ5 Sportage was never conceived as a stage weapon – it’s a tall, comfort-biased crossover with MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link rear tuned for school runs, not closed roads. The XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally coilover takes that high-CoG family chassis and gives it the damping authority to actually settle between Armco-lined corners without the body roll, nose-dive, and rebound float that the OE setup hides behind soft springs.

This is the sealed-stage tarmac specification – not a track coilover, not a fast-road kit. It’s built to keep a heavy SUV planted across mid-corner bumps, kerb hops, and the kind of broken surface changes that throw an unmodified Sportage onto its bump-stops.

What this coilover does for your 2023-2026 Kia Sportage NQ5

The headline change is body control. The NQ5 carries its weight high, and on a quick B-road the OE dampers run out of rebound travel long before the tyres do – you feel it as a vague second movement after every compression. The Tarmac Rally damping curve is shaped to kill that secondary motion, so the car loads, takes a set, and stays there. Front-axle bite improves as a direct consequence: with the nose actually controlled, the Kuga-class understeer that defines a stock Sportage starts to back off. Across patched tarmac and surface joins the kit absorbs the initial hit and then refuses to keep oscillating, which is what XYZ’s stage-rally tuning is built to do. Ride height comes down enough to drop the centre of gravity meaningfully without putting the sumpguard into every speed cushion.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

XYZ Racing developed this damper specifically for sealed-stage tarmac rally use, and every setting in the kit is drawn from that competition experience rather than from a generic touring-car spec sheet. The brief was straightforward: absorb the impact of broken pavement, soak up the jolt of larger bumps without unloading the chassis, and suppress secondary body movement so the tyre stays loaded through the corner. That’s a different problem from circuit damping, where the surface is known and the loads are repeatable – rally tarmac throws compressions, kerbs and camber changes at the damper in random sequence, and the valving has to cope with all of them while keeping the contact patch working. The result is a coilover tuned for traction on imperfect surfaces, not lap-time on glassy ones, and it’s the setting XYZ runs on its own tarmac programmes.

Fitment for the Kia Sportage (2023-2026)

This kit is built specifically for the fifth-generation NQ5 Sportage, covering 2023 through 2026 model years. Confirm your chassis matches the NQ5 designation before ordering – the previous QL generation uses a different strut and lower-mount geometry and is not interchangeable.
