XYZ Racing Tarmac Rally Coilovers — Kia CEED HATCH 2006-2012

The first-generation Kia CEED Hatch was never meant to see a rally stage, but the chassis underneath it – a MacPherson-strut front, multi-link rear platform shared with the Hyundai i30 – takes surprisingly well to motorsport tuning once the soft factory damping is replaced. The Tarmac Rally coilover for the 2006-2012 CEED Hatch is built around one specific brief: absorb sealed-stage hits without unsettling the body, and keep all four tyres weighted through fast direction changes.

That brief matters on a CEED. Standard ride height leaves a lot of arch gap and a lot of body movement, and the factory dampers run out of control quickly once you start carrying real pace through compressions and crests. This kit replaces the entire damping curve with one tuned from XYZ Racing’s own tarmac rally programme.

What this coilover does for your 2006-2012 Kia CEED Hatch

On a tarmac stage the CEED’s front-end wants to push wide on turn-in and the rear wants to skip across mid-corner bumps. The Tarmac Rally valving is built specifically to suppress that body shock rather than just stiffen the car. You get measurably more tyre contact through broken surfaces, a settled platform under hard trail-braking into a slow hairpin, and a front axle that loads up cleanly when you pick the throttle back up. Ride-height adjustment lets you set a working stance that clears arch liners and intercoolers, and the damping range covers everything from a smooth A-road test stage to a rough closed-road event. The point is traction – keeping rubber on tarmac when the surface is fighting you.

About the Tarmac Rally coilover

This is a damper built around the realities of sealed-stage rallying, where the surface is technically tarmac but rarely smooth. The valving is tuned to absorb sharp impacts from broken edges, joins, and patched repairs, then settle the body before the next input arrives. Compression damping handles the jolt across larger bumps and crests, while rebound is set to suppress shock-body movement and stop the car porpoising between hits. The result is a chassis that stays composed when the road surface is doing its worst, with tyre traction maintained through the kind of mid-corner imperfections that would unload a softer setup. Every parameter in the kit reflects settings developed inside XYZ Racing’s tarmac rally programme – the spring rates, the valve stack, the bump-stop progression are all carried over from competition use rather than guessed at for a road catalogue.
